Top 2000

It’s that time of year again! It’s time to vote for the Radio Top 2000. Every year, the Dutch radio station Radio 2 organizes a end of year list of the 2000 best pop songs ever made. They first did this in 1999 and it’s been growing in popularity since. This week is the week in which you can vote for this year’s list and I thought I’d share the songs I voted for with you.

In total you can vote for 15 songs and that’s what I did. You can also add songs to the list you can choose from if there’s a song you love, which is not in the preset list. I voted for these 15 songs, which are either by my all time favorite bands/ artists, or they’re my all time favorite songs. I was too lazy to add my own songs. Here’s the list

Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong – Summertime (1957)Bob Dylan – Subterranean homesick blues (1965)Jacques Brel – Ne me quitte pas (1965)Beatles – Eleanor Rigby (1966)Who – Substitute (1966)James Taylor – Fire and rain (1970)Joan Baez – The night they drove ol’ dixie down (1971)Deep Purple – Child in time (1972) (This is probably my all time favorite song!)Pink Floyd – The great gig in the sky (1973)Police – Can’t stand losing you (1979)Duran Duran – The reflex (1984)Prince & The Revolution – Let’s go crazy (1985)Kate Bush – Running up that hill (1985)Acda & De Munnik – Het regent zonnestralen (1998)Johnny Cash – Hurt (2003)

So if you’re in Holland, make sure you vote! You can vote only this week!

The list will be broadcasted live from December 26th 0.00 till December 31st 0.00. You can also listen online via their website.

Q: What’s your all time favorite song?
