Fall/ Winter lookbook (#10): the grandpa sweater

So far, this look book has features quite a few outfits featuring slouchy sweaters. There was the rust colored knit cardigan, the aztec print men’s sweater, and the faux leather burgundy treggings paired with a chunky knit black & cream sweater. Today’s sweater is a very particular type of sweater. The type I would dub a ‘grandpa’ sweater. Now, this sweater has never belonged to anyone’s grandpa, let alone my own. I picked up this sweater/ cardigan from Urban Outfitters when I was in Berlin in August. The bottom part of the outfit is all H&M: it features a pair of riding pants which I picked up in last year’s winter sale, warm woolen knit socks and my by now trusty pair of chelsea wedge boots which you may have seen in other posts on here.

What I’m wearing:

– ‘Grandpa’ knit cardigan (Sparkle & Fade @ Urban Outfitters)

– Riding pants (H&M)

– woolen knit socks (H&M)

– chelsea wedge ankle booties (H&M)

– tribal spikes & triangle necklace (Forever 21)

– plain black t-shirt (H&M)

What I love about this cardigan is how it ties so many fall/ winter trends into one piece:

a) it’s a slouchy knit sweater

b) it has all the trend colors: mustard yellow, wine red, navy blue

I think it does have to be paired with some tighter bottoms as pairing this with bootcut jeans will just make the whole outfit look frumpy. To break up the otherwise solid black bottoms I decided to have the knit pattern come back in an insanely warm pair of socks. I am currently wearing these socks a lot around the house. So much warmer than your average pair.

How are you bulking up for the colder weather that is to come?
