First things tag

Tags are always fun to do and I saw this one over on Karin’s blog and decided to do it. Alright, let’s get to it!

~I translated these questions from Dutch~

First thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Depends on the morning. If it’s my day off/ the weekend, I make myself some breakfast and a large cup of tea and read some blogs while I slowly wake up. If it’s a workday, I have some breakfast, get dressed, do my make up and am out the door.

First thing you do when you go to the gym?

I get dressed at home because I live so close by. I then throw my towel, water bottle and shoes into my bag and go. When I am at the gym, I go to the locker room, put on my shoes, take my asthma meds (else I can’t work out) and go to the bar to have a cup of tea.

First thing you do when you get home from work/ school?

Get something to eat (because it’s usually around dinner time) and listen to music.

First car?

Never had one. The only car I drove was my mom’s Nissan Micra when I just got my license but I haven’t driven a car since.

First choice drink?

Tea. I always drink tea. I will even order tea as a first drink at a bar. I’ll switch to beer or wine later usually, but 99% of the time I will have tea.

First accident/ traffic misdemeanor?

Don’t actually remember, but what immediately springs to mind is being run over by a taxi when I was on my way home to school when I was 16. I was going straight ahead, and the taxi was taking a turn. He hadn’t seen me, I didn’t see him (I just found out I majorly flunked a maths test and was crying, go figure) and so he hit me. Luckily, he was rounding the corner else things would have been worse. All that happened to me were some bruises, a cracked cell phone screen and a beat up bicycle.

First thing you wanted to be when you’d grow up?

A writer or a flight attendant. I switched between the two. When I was a kid, I had a ‘boyfriend’ who was going to be a pilot and I would be a flight attendant and we would work on the same flights. We also had this grand plan to buy a big house that had a huge garden. Big enough so we could build two houses in our backyard for our parents to live with us. Then I switched schools and he fancied another girl and we ‘broke up’.

First choice dessert?

Something chocolate. Just anything. Chocolate mousse, chocolate pie, chocolate icecream, brownies: if the menu has anything chocolate-y on it, I will opt for that 9 out of 10 times. But I have to say that tiramisu, creme brulee, or lemon merengue pie all make a close second. I just love desserts! It’s my favorite part of every meal.

First song that comes to mind?

Because I listened to it late last night and I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for the greater part of 2012. It still doesn’t bore me. The cover by Mumford & Sons is also splendid.

First major purchase?

The first time I spent a large amount of money must have been my first trip to New York when I was 19 or the laptop I bought the year after. But wait, I also went on a vacation with my friends when I was 16… Could have been that as well. I’m a bit fuzzy on that as I have had my own living space since I was 18 and have done many major purchases in that time.

First job?

At the public library in my old home town. I had to place books back into the shelves. I did that for about 2 years after which I was promoted to a desk job where I scanned the books which people wanted to check out. I worked at the library 5 years in total and really liked it there while it lasted. It paid well and I could always work extra hours over summer.

First time on an airplane?

A trip to London with my mom when I was 18. Yup, I was late as we always took vacations by car (and boat if necessary) when I was a child.

I hoped you enjoyed reading this post and feel free to do this tag if you want to do it too.

  1. Leuk om te lezen 🙂 Mijn moeder zei vroeger altijd dat ik een bijbaantje bij de bieb moest nemen omdat ik zo van lezen hield. Het is er nooit van gekomen, het leek me altijd heel saai.
