Biodermal day cream for dehydrated skin

I am picky when it comes to skincare. I hardly ever change it up and when I do it’s because I find the product I was using doesn’t work as well for me anymore. That happened to me this fall. My daily moisturizer by La Roche Posay made me flare up a bright fire engine red. It left a burning sensation and the redness was so bad that I had difficulty covering it up with make up. The redness would subside within 30 minutes or so, but I’m still thinking it was an allergic reaction. I had to find something new. Biodermal was on sale at my local drugstore at 30% off and I heard many great things about their P-C-LE cream. So when I found they had a day cream especially for dehydrated skin (which is different from dry skin mind you), I picked it up and haven’t looked back since.

Biodermal day cream for dehydrated skin

Biodermal is a Dutch cosmetics company which strives to help your skin improve in a natural way. They have several ranges and one of them (in the pink packaging) is especially for dehydrated skin. Dehydrated skin is when your skin isn’t moisturized enough and has difficulty maintaining its level of hydration. The difference between dehydrated and dry skin is that dehydrated skin lacks water, whereas dry skin lacks oil. Dehydrated skin often has milia: small zit like spots on the dehydrated areas of the skin. The skin usually feels tight and sometimes rough and may appear flaky. The needs for dehydrated skin are thus slightly different than for dry skin. This cream is the first one I’ve found which is especially for dehydrated rather than dry skin.

Biodermal promises the following with this cream:

– intensive hydration of the skin

– protects the skin from external influences

– light texture

– re-establishes the level of moisture in the skin

– soft, smooth skin that no longer feels tight

On top of that this cream has no irritating factors: it is hypoallergenic, free of perfume and free of alcohol. Some of the main ingredients are Vitamin E & C and Glycerine to keep the skin protected and moisturized. Here’s what it looks like:

Excuse the used look, but since it was my first time buying this I didn’t know I wanted to review it. So I had already used it a few times when I took these pictures. As you can see the creams glistens: it feels very wet, yes it still has some substance to it. Another thing I noticed instantly is the smell. Since the cream is perfume free, it doesn’t have a very pleasant smell. At first I put some cream in my hand, rubbed my hand together and applied it, but that made the smell worse. I now simply dot it around my face, and so I smell less of it. But that’s the thing: it’s perfume free, but not scent free as all the ingredients do have a smell to it. That is something you will have to deal with if you buy this product.

This is what the cream looks like when you take a generous scoop on the back of your hand.

When spreading it across the back of my hand you can really see how wet it is, but:

it is absorbed beautifully and quickly by my skin.

I have to say that I have finally found a day cream that ticks all the boxes. It:

  1. causes no allergic reactions (no redness, no iching etc)
  2. causes no break outs
  3. is easily absorbed (it literally takes less than a minute)
  4. actually gives my skin what it needs

For the first time in my life I have found a day creams which does not ooze out of every pore of my face the minute I start doing something. It is absorbed quickly as you really only need a thin layer which disappear in a flash. I can put this on, do my brows and put on my eyeshadow base and then get straight into foundation because the cream has already been soaked into my skin. It hasn’t caused a single zit to pop up, nor does it make me want to scratch my face or make me look like a beetroot. On top of that, it works wonders. It keeps my skin moisturized and I’ve actually noticed that my skin looks better overall ever since I started using this. I love it and am very curious to try more of the products in this range!

Conclusion: great product if your skin needs a healthy drink of water. Only downside is the smell. If you can get past that you’re good though.

Have you tried any Biodermal products yet? Any you would like to recommend to me?

  1. I use perfume free skin care, unfortunately you can’t get scent free when the ingredients do have their own scents but the smell of the products aren’t usually an overpowering smell thankfully.

  2. Klinkt goed! Ik heb zelf een hele droge huid en gebruik de P-C-LE creme op dit moment. Maar ik denk dat deze in zomer te vet is. Ik ben ook wel erg benieuwd naar deze versie!

  3. […] I also keep forgetting to use it as it’s not part of my routine to wash my face at the sink. The cream I reviewed here. Since I also use a BB cream over my day cream, I don’t do much of anything else: there is an […]
