My neutral drugstore lipsticks

Nude or neutral lips: not necessarily my cup of tea. Finding the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade can be a pain and often I just think: what’s the point?! You could manage just fine with a layer of sheer lip balm to create a similar effect. Yet, because of this dilemma, I own quite a few neutral shade of lipstick. Because your lips do look a bit better with a smooch of lipstick on them and not to mention how the right lip color can tie an entire look together. From pinky nudes, to peachy corals, these are the neutral shades I own from the drugstore selection.

Now before I kick this off, you should know that this post will include some brighter colors. However, on my lips, the formula is on the sheer side or ties in nicely with my natural lip color or skin tone. I’ve a very light skin tone, but darkly pigmented lips. Hence some shades tend to either not show up at all, or come off as a neutral shades on my lips. This is why I find neutral lipsticks so difficult: each person will have different colors that suit them. These are the ones that work for me.

Revlon Colorburst lipstick in 075 Peach

An oldie but a goodie. This is a creamy and gorgeous lipstick in a sheer peachy color to give your lips just a hint of color.

Soap & Glory Guava Rama

Very saturated and opaque lipcolor which leans towards a dark coral shade. Void of shimmer and okay staying power.

Hema Moisturizing lipstick in no. 02

Doesn’t stay on long, but the only drugstore beigy nude I own. It’s sheer though so it doesn’t give you that dead look. The peach undertone also brightens up your face. This is one of my favorites to put with heavy eye looks.

Catrice Ultimate Shine lipstick in no. 120 Let’s Dance Salsa

This one is unfortunately discontinued, but it’s a gorgeously opaque pink color with slight golden microshimmer. I am usually not a fan of shimmer in lipsticks, but with this pink shade I think it looks lovely.

Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Color Color Bomb (Revoltaire LE)

Not one of my faves, but keeping it because it was LE. Close dupe for MAC’s Watch me Simmer, so it’s a corally pink shade that is unfortunately not as opaque as I’d hoped.

Rimmel London Kate lipstick in no. 101

Quite possibly my favorite drugstore nude is this one by Rimmel. Matte, opaque, good lasting power and a gorgeous pink that goes towards nude.

Topshop lipstick in Macaroon

Another coral shade. This time by Topshop. I love Topshop lipsticks. They go on like a dream, stay on and have great color pay off. I pick this one over the Catrice one.

NYX Matte lipstick in Angel

Perhaps not a very neutral shade paired with these colors, but when you line it up with full out pinks, it’s not pink enough to go in there either. Cameleon sort of color that can tone down or amp up any look with its pink color with a peach undertone.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick in no. 255 Cherry Blossom

My first: my lips but better shade. I used this quite a bit when I first got it, but ended up not being super happy with the shine it gives off. However, there are occasions where shiny lips are the way to go and that’s why this sumptous cherry shade is still hanging round in my collection.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick in no. 110 Rose Sorbet

Last but not least, is this pretty rosy shade. It’s a tad too cool toned for me most of the time, but come spring/ summer I like bringing this out. Paired with a rosy cheek and a fresh eye look, this lipstick simply breathes sunshine, flowers and newly mowed lawns.

That’s it! My 10 neutral drugstore lipstick shades.
