Shoplog: new drugstore make up (Catrice, MUA, Maybelline)

These are exciting make up times. So exciting that in the past few weeks I managed to find some great new products that have just launched. Not only did Catrice renew its range in August, by now they have also started rolling out a completely renewed line with extra space in the stores and a whooping 67 new items.  Moreover, their new Limited Edition Check & Tweed is out in stores right now. If all that wasn’t enough I visited my parents last weekend and their drugstore carries MUA and I picked up a new Maybelline foundation. Needless to say: a collective shoplog is of the essence.

Let me start off by saying that yes, that is a lot of new make up to try. There was a buy one get one free deal on all nail polish, so that helped and I didn’t buy this in one go. It took me several trips to 4 different drugstores to get to this amount. I first bought most of the nail polish and spotted the renewed Catrice line with the new launches. At that time, most was gone already and so I decided to go back almost 2 weeks later to find everything I was interested in had been restocked. And then what do you do? You stock up. There are no swatches in this post yet as I want to make sure I take good pictures of all these items for future posts and I didn’t have the right amount of light or time yesterday to take those yet. So reviews & swatches are coming up shortly.

Face products:

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid 04 Light Porcelain
Catrice Velvet Finish foundation 010 Light Velvet
Catrice Velvet Finish Concealer 020 Velvet Rose

Catrice Illuminating Highlighter Pen

Two new foundations, a concealer and a liquid highlighter. The Maybelline foundation peaked my interest because there was a deal and I got 30% off. And I found this in a very light color that seemed about right. So well worth a try. The Velvet foundation and concealer are two of the brand new additions to Catrice’s line now that there is a stand that is twice as big. The same goes for the highlighter pen. Both the foundation and the concealer seem to be light enough for me. The concealer comes in an even lighter shade but that had a yellow undertone and since I prefer to use concealer under my eyes, I thought a rosy undertone would be better for concealer any dark circles I may have.

Eye products:

Catrice Absolute Matt eyeshadow palette in 010 Eyes Wide Matt

MUA Matte eyeshadow palette Ever After

Catrice Liquid Metal eye liner pencil in 050 Hazel the Hoff
Catrice Liquid Metal eye liner pencil in 030 You’re so Gold Fashioned

Catrice Eyebrow Filler perfecting & Shaping Gel in 020
Catrice Longlasting Browdefiner in 020 flASHy Brows

Catrice already had two of these palettes in their range, but both were shimmery and I was hoping there would be a matte version. Lo and behold, the make up Gods that be have heard my prayers and Catrice released this matte eyeshadow palette with their expanded range. Just before I found this, I bought the MUA matte palette. Drugstore mattes are hard to find and now, I have two palettes that fit the bill. Perhaps I could review these in a face down of the drugstore matte palettes?

I love Catrice’s Liquid Metal eyeshadows, so when I spotted they have come out with eye liner pencils following the same concept, I was curious. I picked up a brown and a gold. Both seem very wearable but they are super shiny looking, I’m curious if these are as creamy and pretty looking as they seem. Last but not least, Catrice has also expanded their range of eyebrow products. I am a fan of their eyebrow powder, so I thought these would be worth a shot. Since I have fairly dark brown but fair hair I’m always a bit stuck on what to do with my eyebrows. The longlasting definer comes in a shade lighter as does the filler.

Lip products:

Catrice Velvet lip color Check & Tweed LE C01 Queen’s BEAUTea Time

Catrice Ultimate Stay lip color in 120 Looks Like Coral

Catrice Beautifying lip smoother in 030 Cake Pop

I also picked up a few lip products. The first is one of the new velvet lip colors from the latest Limited Edition line. The colors of the lipsticks I saw in store don’t seem to line up with the press release colors, but of the colors available this pinky nude shade stood out to me the most and seemed most interesting. The expanded line now not only contains the Ultimate Shine and Ultimate Color line but also an Ultimate Stay line: a new long lasting formula that I think could be a good addition to the range. I picked up this fun pinky coral color as many of the other shades in the line seemed similar to things I already have.

Nails:

Catrice Luxury Lacquers Liquid Metal My Satin Ballet Shoes (Shiny)
Catrice Luxury Lacquers Liquid Metal I’m Legend-berry (Matt)
Catrice Luxury Lacquers Liquid Metal Pink Charming (Matt)
Catrice Luxury Lacquers Liquid Metal Thunder of Down Under (Shiny)
Catrice Check & Tweed LE England’s Rose
Catrice First Class Up-Grape

Essence Effect Twinkling Bling Bling Icy Fairy
Essence Effect Galaxy Flake Rock My World
Essence Effect Electric Feathers That’s My Pop Cake
Essence Effect Twinkling Bling Bling Lovely, Maybe
Catrice Lash Applicator

Finally I picked up a ton of nail polish and a lash applicator. As I said above, the nail polishes were all buy 1 get 1 free so that made a huge difference. The expanded Catrice range now also stocks some more Luxury Lacquers, some with a matte and some with a shiny finish. I couldn’t resist and picked up four. When I went back to the drugstore I found two more nail polishes I liked from their regular and latest limited edition line. And I also stocked up on some more Essence top coats. These things always come in handy when you don’t know what to do with your nail look for that week.

I never apply false lashes, because I’m not very good at it. I’m hoping this handy looking tool will make life easier. Here’s to wearing more falsies!

Which products would you like me to review?

  1. Loving the nail polishes! Might have to check out that MUA palette too. Your being an enabler again, I’ve been trying not to buy too much make up and nail polish. Nail polish especially, I’m just not getting through any of it lately!

  4. […] Catrice make up has extended its make up line with 67 new products and I’m loving every bit of it. There are new nail polishes, new foundations, lip products, the whole 9 yards. It’s amazing! I went a little crazy and picked up quite a few things from the new line last week. You can see my shoplog here. […]
