Not all nail looks turn out to be a success and I’m still not sure how I feel about the one I’m showing you today. On the one hand I like it, and on the other, I think it’s hideous!
When I decided on pairing these polishes together, I went by the way they looked in the bottles, not on a swatch. I like 3 of the shades together, but the two Catrice ones have a different texture and coverage. And so they fall hopelessly out of place. Yet, I like the polishes on an individual basis, but I’m not so sure I like them in this purple combo. Maybe it’s the texture, maybe it’s because they pull more pink against the purple… I don’t know. Leave a comment to let me know what you think is ‘wrong’ with this.

When I look at some close ups, I really love the shades on my pinky, ring and middle fingers as well as the thumb nail. It’s just that the duochrome on my index finger seems very much out of place in the set. It’s pretty though, but I think I’d prefer that as an accent nail among otherwise creamy shades, or on its own to create that kapow, full on effect. The pale lavender color on my thumb is one of my favorite polishes, same goes for the periwinkle color on my ring finger. Both are colors I can wear year round.
Gradients are great ways to create a simple and easy nail art, but next time I’m going to make sure to take out some swatches before I decide on what to do.
Do you ever wear gradient nails?
