NOTD: Denim Blues

My new favorite nail polish shade for spring? Blue! I am loving blues in all different shades at the moment. But especially the paler, softer tones that are much more appropriate for spring. So I thought it would be time to show you a blue nail polish look.

This nail polish look includes 2 different colors and a topcoat. And guess what?! These are all budget proof polishes. Two of these are no longer available but I’m sure you can still find something similar to these from different brands. I like how the top coat added to the middle nail gives the nail polish a bit more variety: it keeps it from getting boring. And you know how much I like my top coats by now right?

The products I used were the following:

  • Trind Nail Restorer
  • Trind Nail Repair
  • Orly Bonder base coat
  • Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 15 Denim Moore
  • HEMA Longlasting nailpolish in 835
  • Maybelline Color Show Acid Wash effect LE in 245 Lilac Rebel
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat

Catrice Denim Moore is a darker blue with a hint of silver shimmer. I find it a bit too dark and dull to be worn on its own so I paired it with a sky blue nail polish by HEMA. HEMA unfortunately don’t do color names and somehow no. 835 just doesn’t sound as sexy as if this were called ‘sky blue’ or anything like that. To create more of a gradient effect I applied one thin layer of the Acid Wash polish by Maybelinne to the middle nail.

My thumb nail isn’t on any of these pictures, but it had the same color as my pinky: Catrice’s Denim Moore. The result was a framed look: two darker shades on the two most outer nails, then a lighter shade on the middle three, with a touch of matte glitter right in the center. I thought the flecks added a nice touch: more like small paint specks that hit your nail. It just makes it look a little bit more playful.

The lasting power of this look was alright. It lasted around 4 – 5 days. I do find that I have been able to peel off most of my nail looks after a few days but I don’t really mind that. Mainly because I wear quite a few glitter polishes and that makes for some easy nail polish removal.

All in all I was quite satisfied with this particular nail look. It’s a good start to adding some more blues in my life. I’ve accumulated quite a few blue nail polishes lately. Perhaps I should do a separate blog on my favorite blue nail polishes. What do you think?

What is your favorite blue nail polish?
