Chanel Tissé Fantaisie eyeshadow quad

High on my wishlist was a Chanel eyeshadow quad. In the past, it was never a must have in my book. The quality of swatches in store and that I saw online were never that good. For the hefty price you pay for this product, I never thought it worth the money, until last year. Ever since Chanel relaunched their eyeshadow palettes, I had been wanting to buy one. The quads from the regular collection all have very neutral shades and so I decided that instead I would wait until they would release a limited edition eyeshadow quad that tickled my fancy. In the 2015 spring collection, Chanel did just that and so my first Chanel eyeshadow palette became a reality.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in 235 Tissé Fantaisie

Tissé Fantaisie is one of two eyeshadow palettes in Chanel’s current spring collection. The shades in this collection are all still very wearable. The sister to the quad I purchased has more of a pinky undertone. I thought this one a bit more special because of the peach, green and brown combo. It is unexpected, especially for spring and that is exactly why it caught my eye. This palette retails for €50,90. Yes, I know that is a lot of money, but I got it at a 20% discount and I had a gift voucher which made this not as expensive.

A Chanel quad comes in Chanel’s quintessential black box with golden trim. You know you bought yourself a luxurious make up product when the outer box already looks this pretty.

The palette itself then comes wrapped in a little velvet pouch. I don’t think it is actual velvet but still, it’s the idea that counts. The double C logo is even embossed onto it.

There is the palette itself! A shiny black plastic compact that is lightweight and pocket sized. This palette definitely fits comfortably in my hand and thus this could be perfect for traveling. The double C logo is again embossed onto the top. Just take a moment and look at that piece of gorgeousness.

On the back of the palette you can find your first piece of information. The four shades are meant to be used for different purposes. The white is a highlight, the peach and green are all over lid shades and the brown should be used to intensify the look. Below you can find a look I created using the palette in which I will show you how this palette is most definitely useful to create spring make up looks.

And this also comes with a manual! There is more information about the Les 4 Ombres line and inside were also some suggestions for different make up looks. Handy, but not necessarily a must have.

On to the shades! Because that is really why I bought it. The lid is covered with a mirror on the inside and you get two sponge tip applicators with it, but I never use those. It’s the shades that really matter. Inside are 4 shades that I know some people think do not perform very well. I, however, fell in love with these the first moment I swatched these. I think, in order for this palette to really work for you, you have to have a pale to light complexion. So unless your skin resembles Snow White’s, like me, I don’t think these shades will come off as nicely.

A close up of the shades. I used a different setting on my camera to make this close up look not too shimmery and thus washed out. The colors seem a bit bland here but this was the only way I could take this picture. The colors are:

• a shimmery peach shade that looks more pink/ coral in the pan than on the swatch
• an icy shimmery white
• a khaki with golden shimmer
• a reddish dark brown with red/ bronze shimmery

On to the swatches! I did some research before I finally decided to buy this and many swatches I saw didn’t show great pigmentation. The only shade I had problems with was the white. But I think that if that would be too full on, it would be too intense. The other three shades go on opaque enough and they are all buildable. This makes the shadows easy to work with. The texture is soft and smooth and these are easy to blend too.

I am very happy with the eyelook that came out. I used the peach all over the lid, the khaki shade is in my crease and the dark brown is the liner along the outer edge of my upper lash line. I used the white in the inner corner as a highlight. On the lower lash line, I used more of the green and again the dark brown on my the outer third.

On the lid the shades are not super shimmery, and I love how easy these are to work with. I am itching to try doing a look with the green all over the lid, because I think that would be very pretty too. However, I wanted to show that this palette can most definitely be used to create a bright and fun spring look.

I kept the rest of the face very neutral, but I think that this eyeshadow quad would fair nicely paired with a bright pink or coral lipstick too. Also a bright pink blush would not be out of place paired with this and that would make the look even more spring appropriate and fresh looking.

In conclusion, I can tell you that I am very happy with my latest make up purchase. Chanel did not disappoint when it comes to the quality of the shadows and the unique shades in this quad. The big question is of course: do I think this eyeshadow quad is worth 50 euros? Well I think it is, but it only is if you are willing to spend that much money on a single make up product in the first place.
