30 Day make up challenge #16 – colorful

Oh yes, the 30 day make up challenge is still on! This time we’re playing with color. Since I hit the halfway mark last January, I’ve noticed that this challenge is now taking a far more interesting term. Interesting, challenging and more innovative than the past 15 installments have been. So here’s to trying something different, something new.

Yup that is bright blue eyeshadow I’m wearing. For day 16, colorful, I thought it would be a great way to try an keep my new year’s resolution to wear more colorful make up. So I delved in my make up collection and came up with a blue and purple combination with an unexpected twist. I decided to try out the look and feel of a colored brow bone highlight.

Because I knew the eyes would be quite out there, I went with a neutral face make up. But a colorful make up look, wouldn’t be a colorful make up look if it didn’t have another splash of colors on the lips. Perhaps a brighter pop of pink would have been even more daring, but I figured that a pink that is not too bright would make this look more wearable. And I did have to wear this out when I made it.

The main focus of color is on the lid. I tried to blend out the colors with transition color before adding back in some more color by mixing a blue with some white to create a brow bone highlight. Instead of highlighting my inner corner I went with more color. The purple breaks up the blue and I feel it keeps it from getting too dated and 70s looking.

Products used:

Face: Dior DiorSkin Nude foundation in 01 Ivory, Collection 16 Lasting Perfection concealer in 1 Fair, Catrice Nude Illusion Loose Powder in Translucent Matte.

Highlight: The Balm MaryLou-Manizer

Bronzer: Nars Laguna

Eyes:

Brows: Soap & Glory Archery brow pencil & Catrice Eyebrow Filler

This is definitely more out of the box than my usual make up look. I am not sure how I’m feeling about the blue highlight. I think it looks okay when I close my eyes, but with my eyes open, I think it’s too much blue. Or it’s just my brow bone that is too massive, or I’d need more of a transition color. What would your suggestion be to make this work? Would you wear anything like this yourself? And stay tuned on more make up adventures coming up in the future.
