Lookbook Spring 2015: Pretty pastels

I showed you some of my newly purchased clothes last week and now it is time to put some of those pieces into action. It is lookbook time! Because what is the purpose of showing you all those lovely clothes without showing you what they look like on? So let’s start that now and today we’ll have a look at not only some new clothes but also some of my older, but favorite pastel colored pieces. Because in my opinion there is no better color for spring than pastel.

I started out life disliking pastels, but in recent years I have gathered some pastel items in my wardrobe that are near and dear to my heart. From a few dresses, to a shirt here and there: I slowly but surely added a few pieces every season. I have no clue whether any of these items are still available, because some I have had for a while. But some are also very new and will still be out there.

1.) Life is peachy

Peach floral boxy top (Forever 21)
Nude tank top (H&M)
Light ripped Leigh jeans (Topshop)
Leopard print sneakers (H&M)
Bar necklace (Primark)

Let’s start off with a pretty peach top. I picked up this top last year when Forever 21 had just opened their store in Amsterdam. Since it is see through it always needs a top to keep things decent. I paired it with my favorite spring jeans: my Topshop Leigh jeans. To finish off the outfit I added some fun sneakers and a simple necklace in order to not take away too much from the top.

2.) Li-li-lilac

Lilac cable knit sweater (H&M)
Grey ripped Jamie jeans (Topshop)
Desert boots in wolf (Clarks)
Rings (H&M and River Island)

On to two items that I showed in my shoplog last week. Both the sweater and jeans were featured. Jamie jeans are some of my favorite jeans as they are highwaisted and a little bit stretchy. The grey and lilac make for a fun and wearable combination. I rolled up my pant legs to show a bit more ankle. Instead of pairing this with a necklace as I usually do. To change things up, I decided to wear an assortment of different sized rings.

3.) Hit those baby blues

Baby blue lace dress (Asos)
White blazer (H&M)
Tan wedge heel Chelsea boot (H&M)
Necklace (Forever 21)

When I first spotted this dress on the ASOS website I knew I had to have it. From the chiffon skirt to the lace bodice: I knew this dress would be perfect for my body type. I especially like the sweetheart neckline with the lace draped over it in a V-shape. I think it looks very flattering on. I went fairly neutral and complimentary shades to make sure the dress stands out most.

4.) Checks & mints

Mint green blouse with lace crochet collar (Forever 21)
Checked gingham print A-line skirt (Zara)
Black ankle boots (H&M)

This outfit combines a few of my more special clothing items. The mint green shirt I found online ages ago. It is so much fun as it has everything in one. It is mint green, has a lace collar and the buttons are small metal balls that make this shirt quirky, preppy and girly all at the same time. The skirt is very much on trend right now but I have had it for a while. I am usually not one to buy something straight off the mannequin, but I found this and new I wanted to purchase it straight away.

5.) Lilac fuzz

Lilac lace dress (H&M)
Pink fuzzy cardigan (H&M)
Pink heels (Van Haren)Necklace (Forever 21)

I thought I’d also try to make an outfit composed only of pastel items. And this is what I  came up with. I don’t wear the pink cardigan often as I find it quite difficult to pair with outfits. So every now and again I challenge myself to wear it. This was such an occasion. The dress is one of my favorites as it is very comfortable and easy to wear. To finish off the pastel theme, I decided to throw on my mint colored necklace for good measure.

The make up look:

I decided to also include the make up look I am wearing throughout this lookbook. I was quite satisfied with it, so I thought I would share. It is a very wearable and easy to do look, focused around a bronze eye and coral lips.

As you can see it is a very simple eye look with a winged eyeliner that only has a small flick. I only used a bit of bronze cream shadow and tapped on some more bronze eyeshadow with my finger. I used a Maybelline eyeliner to draw on a dark brown line and then I highlighted my browbone with some Catrice Vanillity Fair Velvet Matt eyeshadow.

I also kept the face neutral and simple. So it would be a good spring make up. I used my go to Dior Nude Skin foundation in Ivory, my Collection concealer and Catrice Nude Illusion loose powder. I only went with a bit of Benefit Coralista blush for my cheeks. No contour, no highlight, just the basics. Below you can see the exact products I used.

Products used:

  • Dior Diorskin Nude foundation in 01 Ivory
  • Collection 16hr concealer in 01 Fair
  • Catrice Nude Illusion loose powder in transparent
  • Kat von D eyeshadow primer
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in bronze
  • NARS eyeshadow duo in Isolde
  • Catrice Velvet Matt eyeshadow inVanillity Fair
  • Catrice Liquid metal eyeliner in Hazel the Hoff
  • Maybelline Master Precise liquid liner in forest brown
  • Catrice Brow Definer in Flashy Brows
  • Catrice Eyebrow filler
  • Topshop lipstick in Macaroon

Which is your favorite outfit?
And what do you think of the make up look?

  2. […] Sometimes a skirt simply catches your eye and you know you have to have it. That’s what happened to this. I spotted this on a mannequin on a random shopping spree and even though it was a tad more expensive than what I usually would spend on a skirt, I decided it was worth every penny. I like the shape of this as it has that A-line shape which is all the rage now. Because it is black and white it goes with many other things and I love pairing this skirt with a pop of color. You can see it on in this lookbook post. […]
