L’Oreal Extraordinaire liquid lipsticks

It seems that summer time for me has been all about rounding up some reviews of older products that I do really enjoy but just never got round to review. Today I am showing you two products that have been around for some time, but the buzz around these has most definitely died down. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be great products. That is why I present to you the L’Oreal Extraordinaire liquid lipsticks.

L’Oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire lipsticks Nude Vibrato & Tangerine Sonate

The reason why this long overdue review is posted now, is because I a) wanted to get a good enough idea of how these work and b) these babies are expensive. So I picked up these colors when there was a deal at the drugstore. At €15.99 a pop, you don’t just end up randomly buying a ton of these in one go. Especially not since these are drugstore products, paying nearly 16 euros for one lipstick is then quite expensive I think.

I ended up picking two different shades which I bought at separate occasions. I decided to pick up 204 Tangerine Sonate to try out the whole orange lip thing last year and then I picked up 600 Nude Vibrato a little bit later because I liked the first one so much. Because yes, these are great lipsticks and I will be showing you why below.

L’Oreal Color Riche L’Extraordinaire liquid lipsticks 600 Nude Vibrato

We’re starting with my favorite. Even though I bought this secondly, this is my favorite of the two. In fact, this is what made me realize that a nude lip CAN look nice as long as you pick the right shade and it isn’t fully matte. These lipsticks have a very fluffy doe foot applicator which holds quite a bit of product. Packaging is rather nice and simple but I think the fact that the swab of color on the side of the tube, would have been even nicer if it had been clear to show you the product that’s inside.

I bought Tangerine Sonate because it seemed like a fun bright orange shade. The packaging is the same, save for the hint of orange to show what color you’re buying. This is a bright orange shade and even though L’Oreal calls these products liquid lipsticks, they are not a liquid lipstick as most brands have been releasing them lately. Most liquid lipsticks start wet and then dry and stay put. These liquid lipsticks are more like super pigmented lipglosses that work like a lipstick. Hybrid lipstick would have been better suited.

Nude Vibrato & Tangerine Sonate

Swatched, Nude Vibrato look like a pinky nude and Tangerine Sonate like the vibrant orange. They match the packaging nicely so if you go by the stickers on the packaging I think you can guestimate which colors you’d like from the range. As you can see these liquid lipsticks are super glossy and the formula is quite tacky. I personally find these very comfortable on the lips, but if you don’t like that sticky feel then these are not for you.

On my lips, Nude Vibrato comes off as the perfect my lips but better shade. It makes my lips look more even and glossy. It’s a very healthy looking nude too, mainly because of the glossy finish. Tangerine Sonate is a lot more vibrant, but because of my natural lip color it is a bit more muted. It is a great orange shade if you like to wear orange on your lips, but are a tad afraid of those boom in your face oranges.

Wear time on these is quite surprising. For a product so much like a lipgloss they stay on quite a long time. They can survive a small meal and maybe a drink or two, but after 4 hours these do need reapplying. Which is not bad for a drugstore lipstick as I get the same results with a Catrice lipstick.

In short, I like the texture of these, they look nice, they feel comfortable and they have a decent amount of wear time. I choose these over lipgloss as glosses are too sheer for my lip color, plus they don’t wear as long. Yes, these L’Oreal Color Riche L’Extraordinaire liquid lipsticks are worth every penny. Just be careful that you pick a shade that you truly like to justify paying almost as much as a MAC lipstick for these.
