The summer time vampy lip

Summer means lighter, brighter make up looks for me. I tend to shift the focus from my eyes to my lips as no one likes to cake on the heavy eyeliner when temperatures go up. Instead I bring out the bright lipstick and I figured it would make a fun summer time make up.

The base I went with is a fairly light one. On super hot days I just wear some concealer and let that be that. But if it’s not too bad I like opting for a light weight foundation or a BB cream. I also skip the bronzer and the highlight as I feel that in summer I have a bit of a tan and my skin looks a lot more glowy naturally, so I just leave it be.

I went with a lightly defined eye with a hint of liner, which I created with some eyeshadow. That makes for a softer look than a liquid liner and I feel it stays put a lot better too. Eyeshadow can of course smudge but I feel that a liquid liner more easily smudges and becomes less defined as your skin heats up. So eyeshadow it is. I tried to keep the line as thing as possible and just topped it up with lots of mascara and I left the bottom lashes bare.

Products used:

Face:

Base: MAC Face & Body foundation in C1, Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in 01 fair, MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.

Blush: Benefit Coralista

Eyes:

Base: Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Eyes: Sleek Oh So Special palette

Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies Flared mascara

Brows: Hema Clear brow gel & Catrice Brow Powder

Lips: MAC Lady Danger matte lipstick

But the eye catching feature of this look is of course the lipstick. This is MAC’s Lady Danger which has been my obsession ever since I bought it in Berlin last year. It looks great on me, and brings that much needed pop of color for a bright and fun summer make up look. Plus this is a matter finish lipstick which means this wears nicely and stays on no matter what.

I really love this make up look. It was great to be busting out my Sleek palette again. I really like the shadows but I always forget that I have them and thus they get very little use. I’ve made it my mission to use them more often and this make up look is part of that trial.

How do you add a pop of color to your summer make up look?

  1. […] But of course I have saved the best for last and we are now moving into my three most loved Sleek palettes. The first one of these is the Oh So Special palette. I absolutely love the matte pink that is Ribbon. As you can see that shadow has quite a dip in it. Organza is my second favorite shade in here and I love how it combines pinks with some pretty neutrals and some darker shades. There is the everlasting black shadow in this palette (I’d have preferred a deep dark brown in this), but this makes for very wearable make up looks, as you can see in this make up look. […]
