My love for… printed socks?!

I know what you’re thinking: why on earth would anyone write a blog post about socks? Well, I do. It may seem silly, but hear me out. This past year or so I have been finding my sock drawer changing. Whenever I needed some new pairs, I decided to not go with plain colors such as black or white, but I opted for pattern, print, something a bit more fun. And by now my sock drawer is comprised mostly of printed socks and it’s the only thing I’ll wear. So I thought it was high time that I shared this love of mine.

Now I think I know why this seems like a silly post to share. Who raves about socks right? Why does it matter what is on your feet? Well truth be told: it doesn’t. I just like wearing them as it gives my outfits a bit of a different element to them and in a way I use them as accessories. I remember thinking I needed printed socks when I bought a pair of cut out boots. I liked the effect it would give if that little cut out would show a bit of polka dot or stripe showing through. But at that time, I couldn’t find any fun printed socks anywhere. They were always very colorful and I wanted them to be black, white grey or navy at best. It took some time for that very particular wish to come true and then suddenly: the printed sock was everywhere! And these are my favorite pairs.

Navy polka dot print socks (H&M)

Even though these socks don’t go with every outfit, they are certainly one of my favorite pairs. I actually love wearing them around the house mostly. I usually just lounge around wearing socks and so I see them the entire time. And I don’t know why but the combination of different sized polkadots just puts a smile on my face. It’s the little things that count!

Stripy sock in black and grey (H&M)

I used to own bright, rainbow colored striped socks years ago when I was in my teens. I used to love those and I hated it when they had reached the end of their lifespan. But H&M have been doing bunches of striped socks for a few seasons now and I have been stocking up on those every time I see a new batch. This is a very basic pattern that will go with anything and everything. I love wearing these socks in particular with my cut out or Chelsea boots.

Houndstooth socks (H&M)

In one of the H&M packs I found this pair of houndstooth socks and I wear these mostly when I wear brogues or any other more manly style shoes. They add a splash of prep with any outfit and I have been wearing them so often that I think these may have to go in the trash some time soon.

Animal print socks (H&M)

Fancy a bit of tiger, leopard or zebra print in your life? Then socks can be a great way to wear it but not splatter it all over your body. I like animal print from time to time, but since it can look tacky quickly I save it for that little peep along the ankle when I am wearing jeans and sneakers.

Flamingo print socks (Primark)

If you want truly fun patterns than Primark is your best bet. I found these flamingo print socks last spring and when I posted a picture on Instagram where I am wearing these, the pictures received more likes than most of my other pictures. Not only is flamingo print fun and trendy, but the colors of these socks also add for a nice pop of color with any outfit.

Now that you have seen my favorite pairs of socks, I think it is safe to say that yes, I’m a bit of a dork. But hey! I am just trying to appreciate the little things over here.
