Catrice Even Skin Tone Foundation

When Catrice releases a new foundation, I have to try it. Especially if it is a foundation that comes in some nice, light colors. I already showed this briefly in my Catrice/ Essence new products overview a few weeks ago, but when you start using a foundation every day and has become your favorite, it only serves it right if it gets a separate review.

Catrice Even Skin Tone Beautifying Foundation 010 Even Vanilla

The Even Skin Tone foundation retails for €7.59 for 30 ml. That is fairly reasonable for a drugstore foundation. There is one shade lighter (005 even ivory) and two darker ones (020 beige rosé and 030 even sand). It should have beautifying properties and should have good coverage.

Some information on the bottle up close. And this is what Catrice has to say:

Medium to high coverage and a foundation that brightens pigmentation spots. It should cover discolorations and any signs of redness and leave a semi-matte finish, while leaving a radiant complexion.

The bottle of the foundation is a pretty matte glass bottle. It looks sophisticated and chic. The foundation comes with a pump and you can clearly see the shade through the bottle.

There is some more information on the back of the bottle and the color name is clearly stated on the bottle. The pump dispenses a good amount of product. With one pump I get enough foundation for a full face application.

The texture of this foundation is fairly thick, but not gloopy. It has a good amount of moisture and I find it blends in perfectly. It is buildable too: with a little left over, almost any sign of redness is covered completely. A little concealer will easily cover up the rest.

Finish wise, the foundation dries indeed to a semi-matte finish, but it leaves enough of your skin to make sure a natural yet flawless look. Coverage wise I wouldn’t call this medium to high coverage, but more like light to medium that can be build up. Let’s have a look at what this looks like on my face.

This is my face sans foundation. All I am wearing is some brow products. My skin has some redness, but lately it has been pretty okay. I don’t have too many blemishes, or other skin problems. There is some discoloration on my cheeks, which is melasma and there is a red splotch above one of my eyebrows. It’s these things that I want covering up.

I am wearing foundation on the left half of my face. I feel the color is spot on, but when I get paler come winter I may need the lighter shade. There is a clear difference between the two parts of my face, but it doesn’t look too cakey or like a ton of make up.

Full face this make up looks great. This is without any powder or concealer. The melasma is almost gone and most of the redness is gone. It is not fully matte, but has a bit of a dewy glow to it. I really like how natural this looks.

With a powder, this foundation becomes fully matte and lasts throughout my working day. I have de-hydrated/ combination skin that isn’t too oily apart from my forehead, nose and chin. So those are the only areas I powder.

With a full face of make up, this foundation looks nearly flawless yet not fake. It covers everything I want to cover. In combination with other make up products, it works fabulously. Blush, bronzer and highlight all go on flawlessy.

My conclusion is that this foundation is right on the money. When you compare its price to the quality of this foundation, I really think it lives up to much more expensive, higher end foundations. I love my Dior Nude Skin foundation, but that is too light for me in summer. This is a great substitute for those summer months.
