Tag time! I saw this tag going round multiple places, but I didn’t decide doing it myself until I saw it on Denise’s blog. She posted about it on her Instagram this week and thought: I want to do that tag. So here we go!
Favorite lip balm or treatment?
NUXE Reve de Miel lip balm and Burt’s Bees Honey lip balm. Both are as good. Unfortunately I ran out of the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm the other week and my lips have already started to feel a lot drier without it. I have been trying to find a place where I can buy it in The Netherlands as I bought mine in Paris and it’s very hard to find here. The only places that sell it are shady online pharmacies.
Best red lipstick?
My favorite all time red lipstick is MAC’s Russian Red. It is the most classic red as reds go and I find it suits me very well. It is a full on red, with a hint of blue, goes on smoothly, but since it’s matte it stays all day. I am wearing it here.
Best luxury and budget lip product?
I would have to say YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks are my favorite luxury picks. I own four of them in Tropical Pink, Rouge Neon, Rose Perfecto and Fuchsia Fétiche. My blog post on the latter two happens to be my most viewed blog post, so I am know I am not the only person loving these.
When it comes to a more drugstore and affordable lipstick I have 3 different brands that I would like to mention. First and foremost: Catrice, especially their Ultimate Colour lipsticks. But they also have a few other lines and I also liked the lipsticks I’ve tried from their Luminous Lips and Ultimate Stay lines. The two runner ups would have to be Topshop and Rimmel. Topshop because they do an amazing shade range and Rimmel because they do the best matte lipsticks in the drugstore.
Best MAC lipstick?
It is tempting to also put MAC Russian Red lipstick here, since I where that the most. But I would have to say that my most recent MAC purchase, which was MAC’s Mehr lipstick, is my favorite. But I would also like to give an honorable mention to an oldie but goodie: Pink Plaid, which was my favorite MAC lipstick for a long time and is still in my top 3 ever lipstick purchases.
Most disappointing product?
My most recent disappointing lip product would have to be the Make Up Academy Velvet Lip Lacquers. I was all excited to try these, but then I bought some and tried them. From the three shades there is only one that I like and still wear.
Lip pencil: yay or nay?
Lip pencil isn’t very high on my list, but I have to say that I have been getting into it a little bit more. However, it is a product that I tend to forget about when I am doing my make up. I just have to make it part from my make up routine, because I do really like the different looks and effects you can create with a bit of liner underneath, plus it makes your lip colors last so much longer too. So yay from me!
Best lip gloss?
When I reorganized my make up at the beginning of summer this year, I got rid of most of the lip gloss I own. I hardly wear it as I don’t like the texture of the feel on my lips. But when I saw the Dior Fastes lip gloss that was part of their spring collection this year, I knew I had to have it. It is pinky/ nude/ transparent gloss with the most incredible flecks of sparkle to it. It can bring any matte nude lip look from flat looking to multi-dimensional.
This wasn’t part of Denise’s tag, but when I saw this somewhere else there was a last category where you got to speak up about a few other products that you love. And I would like to take this opportunity to highlight a few products that I have been loving, but which I have yet to share with you in a review. You could consider this a sneak peek of what’s to come. But one product I am really excited about are the Milani Matte lipsticks, which I bought in the US last summer. The same goes for the Bite lipstick in Juniper and 3 NYX lip products that I picked up during the same trip. So keep your eyes peeled to this spot as these are some of my new favorites.
As I was searching for links to products to add to this blog post, I found out I already did this tag last year! Read that version here as it is different from this year’s.
