Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion

With my sensitive skin, it’s been quite difficult to find skincare that works for me. So when I find something that works, I hang on to it for dear life. You can imagine my disappointment when I ran out of one of the first moisturizer that ever truly worked for me. I’m talking about the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion. I finally gotten round to repurchasing this and today I’m putting it up for a review.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion

Clinique is a brand that is known for being good for sensitive skin. It is one of the reasons why they were my first stop when I decided to step up my skincare game. I used to religiously use The Body Shop’s Aloe Vera products, but after using them for a while, I found them not doing enough for my skin. The cleansers worked fined, but the creams weren’t potent enough. So I decided to branch out.

I decided to purchase the Dramatically Different lotion by Clinique as the lady at the store recommended it. I knew Clinique boasts about being formulated for sensitive skin, but the lady told me that when you have dehydrated, sensitive skin that this is a good product to start with. At around 25 euros for 50 mls I was a bit skeptical about the claims, but decided to give it a go.

What it is:
A fast-absorbing, lightweight daily moisturizer for dry to combination skin types.

What it is formulated to do:
This cult-classic moisture “drink” developed by Clinique’s dermatologists maintains optimal moisture balance for very dry skin or comfortable to oily skin in the T-zone. With a silky texture and quick penetration, this lightweight formula strengthens skin’s own moisture barrier by 54 percent, so more moisture stays in. All-day hydration leaves skin silky-soft, springy, and absolutely radiant. Skin looks younger, longer.

What else you need to know:
It’s the third step in Clinique’s 3-Step Skin Care System. For oilier skin types, try Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. For the driest skins, try Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream

My skin is dehydrated, dry to normal skin with a more oily t-zone. In other words, combination skin with plenty of issues despite being sensitive. Despite the claims I do not find this is absorbed by my skin very easily. Especially in the areas where I get oilier, I find this a tad too rich. For the drier areas however, this is like a long-needed drink of water after a long walk in the desert.

The texture of this moisturizer is very creamy. Compared to the Origins moisturizer I showed you last month, this has a much thicker consistency, as the Origins cream feels like water. This, on the other hand, feels much richer and has the texture of body lotion. However, this product is still a moisturizer, so once you start blending it into your skin, you can feel the moisture sinking into your skin.

The only problem with this formula is that it leaves a layer of product on your skin. It sinks in nicely, but on my oilier areas especially, I find it takes a fair bit longer. Due to the layer, I found this doesn’t work very well under make up. That is why I only use this as a night time moisturizer and that works like a dream!

To sum up, does this cream work? Yep, it definitely does. If you have combination skin that suffers from some dryness, that can use a bit extra moisture then I can definitely recommend you get this. If your skin is more oily then I suggest you check out their version for oily skin. All in all though, this is a great moisturizer that works best for me as a night time product that leaves my skin feeling moisturized until the morning.

What is your favorite night time moisturizer?
