I’m always in for a good drugstore find and so I was happy to find these new blush and highlighters from Catrice the other week (as well as plenty of other goodies). The blush and one of the highlighters are brand new. The other highlight is an older launch, but it was one I had never found before. Let’s have a look whether these are any good (hint, hint: they are!).
Catrice Illuminating Blush 040 La Vie En Rose
Catrice Highlighting Powder 010 Stardust
Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder 010 Light Infusion
The two new items here are the blush in La Vie En Rose and the highlighter in Light Infusion. The highlight in Stardust is an older release that I found because of the blush. This highlight was right next to it and all I could think was: why didn’t I see this before?! These three products all retail for €3.59 – €4.99. I do not know the exact prices because the store lists these all under the same name. In any case, these three products are all very budget friendly.
Catrice Illuminating Blush 040 La Vie En Rose
La Vie En Rose is a subtle rosy pink with a peachy golden sheen to it. The Illuminating blush formula is one I really enjoy. It has plenty of color pay off, has a dual tone shade and gives off a nice glow. It is one of those blushes that you don’t necessarily need to use a highlight with if you want to keep things simple. As the color of this is very subtle, it gives off just enough of a healthy glow to put some color into your face without overdoing it. This blush has a good lasting time, a not overly powdery texture and just looks stunning on. If a subtle blush shade is on your wishlist, then I suggest you try this.
Catrice Highlighting Powder 010 Stardust
The highlight I had not yet seen before, is Stardust. It is in the same section of the stand as the Illuminating blush and comes in two shades. There is also a more warm toned version of this, but I thought this looked interesting precisely because it is so cool toned. This highlight has a hint of a pink sheen to it and something almost icy. The effect is not too strong I find, which is a plus as a highlighter can so easily look overdone in my opinion. The pattern in the product is simply too cute and I have been using this on and off with my new Dior highlight and I find this achieves a similar effect. The shine is not as intense or pretty as the Dior one, but it does give an overall similar feel to your make up look. This one is for you if you’re on the market for a clearly cool toned highlight.
Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder 010 Light Infusion
Now if you’re more into warm tones, then this baby is for you. The minute I read Catrice was coming out with this baked highlight, I knew I had to have it. This isn’t super intense, similar to Stardust, but Light Infusion is very similar in tone to The Balm’s Mary-Loumanizer. Again, the look you achieve with this is similar to that, but not the same. This is quite a powdery product, but this gives off enough highlight to create a great effect. The champagne shade is quite neutral and has a warm, golden toned sheen to it. I think this will be flattering on so many different skin tones as well as all over the face. I have been loving dusting this not only onto my cheeks, but also as a brow bone and inner corner highlight as well as on the bridge of my nose and on the cupid’s bow. In short, this is a highlight you can go to town with.
Stardust, Light Infusion, La Vie En Rose
That all sounds nice and dandy, but what about some swatches? This is them! As you can see the blush has plenty of color to it. You can also clearly see the sheen of these products. I say sheen as none of these are glittery at all. Both the blush and Light Infusion highlighter have a warm champagne/ gold sheen to it, whereas Stardust has a pink, almost silvery sheen. I could stare at this picture all day: these products simply look too stunning. Let’s see how these look applied to my face.
Catrice Illuminating Blush 040 La Vie En Rose
The top left picture features no blush. The only thing I am wearing is my contour and bronzer and a bit of highlight. As you can see La Vie En Rose adds a pretty rosy toned flush to my face which looks natural and too shimmery. The effect on my face is glowy more than shiny and I think this just makes my face look healthy. The neutral color tone of this blush makes it very wearable and versatile. This will go with any make up look you decide to wear.
Catrice Highlighting Powder 010 Stardust
Stardust is a pretty highlight. As with any highlight, it accentuates my milia, which is why I don’t like my highlight too full on. It will just make everything stand out more. However, I like a good bit of shine from time to time and now that it’s winter I’ve been gravitating towards cooler toned highlights. My skin has gone so pale these past few weeks and so I feel that a pink toned highlight suits my skin much better now than gold or champagne ones. To me, this gives the perfect amount of glow without overdoing it.
Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder 010 Light Infusion
Last but not least the highlight I was most excited about. This is one of those highlighters that shifts when you turn your face in the light. You angle your face this way, it’s more subtle. You turn it so the light hits it just right and BAM! Highlight! I personally love that effect. I feel this blurs my uneven skin a little better than Stardust. Like that highlight, Light Infusion manages to create a natural glowy effect that isn’t overly shiny or too in your face. As this is powdery, a light hand is advised.
To round up, I am not sure which of these three products I like the best. La Vie En Rose is such a pretty, natural looking blush that it could very well become a favorite. Stardust is beautiful and I feel quite a unique product when it comes to drugstore ranges (which tend to gear towards warmer skin tones I fine). In addition, Light Infusion is one of the prettiest budget friendly highlighters I have found in a while. In short, these are all great products that are worth your time and money.
