I’m the type of gal who likes to keep her skincare routine simple. And what better place to shop for simple skincare items that simply get the job done than the French pharmacy! So when I was in France for a vacation I picked up a few items. One of those items was the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré: a multi-purpose skincare product for all skin types that has a true cult following from models to make up artists. After all those raving reviews, I decided to give it a go myself.
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Nourishing Moisturizer for all skin types
Excuse the beat up look of this box and the product, but I carried this halfway round Europe in a backpack for almost 3 weeks. The still gets the job done. Depending on where you buy this product, it retails for different prices. It is cheaper in France. I paid around €16. Here in the Netherlands it retails for just over €18.50. For that price you get 75 ml of moisturizer.
The packaging of this product is super simple: a white box with a blue swirl and inside you find the simplest, most bog standard tube you have every seen. I like that about these French pharmacy skincare products: they are straightforward and product oriented rather than making everything look fancy. The tube makes for hygienic use and the promises of this product are sky high. You should be able to use this for almost anything! I just use it as my day time moisturizer however.
According to the packaging the active ingredients are: shea butter, beeswax, aloe vera, and soy proteins. It is paraben free, but does contain some perfume. The smell of this is quite medicinal. Not floral or zesty like some skincare products can be, but this smells like it should work. The ingredient list itself does not really make me too excited. The active ingredients do not start until almost halfway through the list. But I’m sure this product is so hyped up for a reason.
When you squeeze some out of the tube, my first impression is that you have to be careful how hard you squeeze. You easily get too much product. Just a gentle tap will do. The dollup you see in my hand is a much too generous amount. I would say you need about as much as I ended up spreading on the back of my hand: about a quarter to a dollar coin sized amount will do.
Once you start spreading this out and blending it into your skin you can feel the texture. It is slippery and a tad oily, yet milky at the same time. This has the consistency of a thick buttermilk: it is creamy, yet runny. That is why it blends in easily into the skin. My skin drinks this up like there is no tomorrow and the amount of moisture vs oil is nicely balanced. I don’t have overly dry or overly oily skin and if a cream is too rich it will easily just sit on top of my skin and do nothing. This is not that cream. This is absorbed within a few minutes. I find this a perfect base for applying underneath make up.
So far I’ve only been using this product for a few weeks. But I love this so much that I had to get the review out asap. Yep, Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré lives up to the hype and does exactly what it promises to do: to make your skin feel nourished and moisturized. It hasn’t broken me out or led to any allergic reactions and therefore this is high on my beauty love list.
What moisturizer do you use?
