Instanails #5

Happy September! And to kick off this month in which classes will start back up again, I thought I could give you an overview of some of the different nail polishes I’ve been wearing. I’ve been on a roll when it comes to doing my nails these past few weeks. I am truly enjoying doing my nails again and so I have plenty to show you. Here we go!

Essie Viva Antigua!

To start the post, I have this polish for you from Essie’s 2016 summer collection. Viva Antigua! is a bright turquoise green shade with micro sparkle that looks bright and in your face. This color just screams summer to me which is why I decided to get it. It is bright and in your face, but adds a great pop of color to any outfit.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Blue Grape

Blue Grape by Barry M is one of my favorite polishes for summer. There is just something I love about a bright cobalt blue shade on the nail for the summer time. And I absolutely adore this formula too. The Barry M Gelly Hi-Shines go on like a dream and stay put for 4 – 5 days easily. Love it!

Catrice Moon Rock Effect Nail Lacquer Magical Bluelight

When I reviewed the Catrice Moon Rock polishes a lot of you said you loved Magical Blue light the best. On the nail it is even more stunning, if that was ever possible. A taupe/ mauve base, or a grey toned plum if you like, is infused with different types and tones of shimmer. An otherworldly effect on the nail that had me staring at my nails every so often, just to admire the polish.

OPI Mermaid’s Tears

This sadly discontinued polish from an old limited edition collection by OPI is one of my all time favorite shades to wear and one I grab for very easily when I’m stuck in a rut and don’t know what to wear. A muted, greyish, dirty green shade, this is one of those shades that look rubbish in the bottle, but truly come to life on the nail.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Blueberry

You know I love a polish formula if I feature not 1, but 2 polishes from the same line. Where Blue Grape is an in your face electric blue, Blueberry is more muted. It is brighter than a pastel, but definitely more toned down than the intensity of Blue Grape. I think this is best described as a sky blue shade. Luckily we’ve been getting quite a few blue skies these days so a very apt polish to be wearing this time around.

Barry M Molten Metal Nail Pain Bronze Bae & Copper Mine

Very new to my collection and something I was very curious to try were the Barry M Molten Metal polishes. A new limited edition line that I spotted at Make Up by Tatou. That store is quickly becoming one of my favorites for more hard to get products. I was afraid these polishes would be too sheer since they are so shimmery. However, I found these went on opaque with just 2 coats and what’s more: for a metallic polish these also lasted nicely on the nails and didn’t chip too quickly.

What are you wearing on your nails right now?

  1. […] The Moon Rock polishes had a very quiet launch. Catrice renewed their line and suddenly they were there. I haven’t heard anyone talk about these and it’s a shame, because these are some of the best polishes Catrice has done in a long time. Magical Bluelight is my favorite. The dusty dirty lilac has tons of different colored bar shaped glitter suspended in it. Personally, I love how this looks on the nail (here). […]

  2. […] OPI Mermaid Tears – An OPI classic is Mermaid’s Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. It was one of the earliest OPI polishes I got and it has been a firm favorite since. It is a muted, grey toned sea foam green that is always stunning on the nail, but it’s a shade I gravitate towards every spring. It’s great under glitters or by itself and I think if you get one shade to wear for spring: get a sea foam green. […]
