Staple outfits in my wardrobe

I like trying out new outfits, but after trial and error you sometimes find a few outfits that just work no matter what. I call these my staple outfits. Outfits that will always go together and that hit that sweet spot. They make you feel great, hence you look great and they are outfits you can go back to whenever you are stumped what to wear. I’m sharing 6 of them with you today. I hadn’t realized it until I started putting this post together that all of these outfits are very much perfect for fall. And since we’re slowly heading in that direction (just 5 more days!) I thought one could simply not be too early. Expect a lot of black and white, combined with reds and burgundy, the odd navy and some pastel shades.

One of my all time favorite outfits

The first outfit features a burgundy cardigan by Urban Outfitters, a patterned dress from H&M and burgundy brogues by Bronx. This is one of my go to outfits! I featured it in one of my fall lookbooks last year and still love it. Burgundy is one of my favorite shades to wear and paired with a good black and white item it makes for such a staple for me. Plus this outfit is simply super duper comfy.

Outfit no. 2 features another very relaxed look. Featuring an oversized checkered blouse from H&M, this is the ultimate jeans and a t-shirt look. I like pairing this with a completely black base: black Topshop Jamie jeans, and a plain black v-neck t-shirt (from H&M). For an added pop of color I like adding my red low rise Converse sneakers. Preferably I wear this outfit with a bold red lip and a red nail.

Also in jeans + something combos, I love pairing jeans with a blouse. It makes for a slightly dressier outfit, yet something that is still casual enough for day to day wear. Here you see a navy floral patterend blouse from Urban Outfitters, paired with a ripped pair of light blue Leigh jeans by Topshop. For shoes I opted for my all time favorite: the Chelsea boot. Here in a brown from Asos, they are simply my all time favorite shoe to wear, hence I own quite a few pairs.

For a shirt option, I love this burgundy midi skirt from Asos. This is one of my favorite outfits to transition into fall on warmer days. The skirt’s length makes it perfect for the colder mornings, whereas the short sleeves and airiness of the skirt make it excellent for when the day gets warmer. Paired with a striped cropped top from H&M and a pair of tan brogues by Asos, I find this a great outfit that works with textures, contrast and a hint of the masculine.

Another great option for fall is a corduroy skirt. This A-line shaped one is once again burgundy (can you sense a theme here?), but the corduroy material gives the skirt a very different look and feel than the first one I just showed you. The texture it adds to the outfit is what I find so interesting. The Topshop sweater adds another layer of interest because of the lines that aren’t quite lines. All that rests is to throw on a pair of patent leather Dr. Marten’s and you’re all set.

This final outfit is very different from the rest. I actually wore this to my aunt’s 50th birthday party last June. It’s pretty, it’s floral, it’s pastel and hence perfect for a summer birthday party. I paired this stunning fitted H&M dress with a fuzzy oversized cardigan (also H&M) for some much added warmth. Another reason why I threw this on was the texture it gave the outfit, plus I think it contrasts nicely with the mostly green print of the dress. To coordinate with the light pink cardigan, I added a pair of light pink nude pumps from Van Haren.

What are some of your go to outfits?

  1. Bij mij is het makkelijk, ik pak een jurkje uit mijn kast en gaan met die banaan. In de winter vind ik het wel leuk om om af te wisselen met verschillende vestjes en kleuren panties.
