The best bang for your buck

Where I love me some higher end make up, I couldn’t go without my drugstore gems. They may be a touch harder to find, but when you do, they are there to stay. So I thought it would be good to show you some of those drugstore gems. These are the products that I think are very affordable indeed, but which still work like a charm, just like any high end product would. Let me introduce you to 9 products that give you the most bang for your buck.

9 make up products that give you the most bang for your buck

I have tried to make a selection of my favorite products. There isn’t a foundation or a powder in here, as I haven’t found an ultimate favorite in those categories at an affordable price point that are still widely available. Since I am quite pale, foundations are difficult to find where I live in the correct shade and the ones I have found that work for me are either hard to get or no longer available. When it comes to face powders, bronzers and highlighters: again I feel higher end versions still work best for me. Please leave a comment down below if you do have any recommendations for good drugstore options.

Maybelline Color Tattoo

For eyeshadow I feel there is only one product to look for and those are the Maybelline Color Tattoos. They are versatile, easy to apply and longlasting on the eyes. They come in an arrange of shades, which means that you can easily change up your look. I love wearing these on their own with just a touch of pencil to darken up the look. It’s a quick 1-2-3 type make up look that I use often when I am in a hurry.

Zoeva brushes

Yes, Real Techniques make affordable brushes, but they pale in comparison with Zoeva brushes. Zoeva is much cheaper compared to Real Techniques and their brushes are as good and sometimes even better. What’s more, Zoeva brushes can be purchased individually which makes it a lot easier to steadily grow you brush collection rather than forking out quite some money for the Real Techniques sets. So even though I like both, Zoeva wins it for me as they do some great brushes that I enjoy using on a daily basis. My three favorite brushes are the Luxe Sheer Cheek, Luxe Defined Crease and Petit Crease brushes.

Sleek blushes

I could have also featured one of their I-Divine eyeshadow palettes, but when it comes to cheek products, Sleek takes the cake. Their blushes are intense, they have some good bronzer and highlight shades in their Face By 3 palettes and they have a good selection of shades. Incredibly intense and cramped with a boatload of product, their blushes are by far my favorites. From the NARS Orgasm dupe Rose Gold to some of their brighter and deeper tones. I don’t wear them often, but when I do I am always pleased with the look.

Catrice Eyebrow Filler

One of my favorite brow gels is from the drugstore. German drugstore brand is becoming more and more widely available and I love many of their products. The eyebrow gel is one of my favorites as it has just the right tint, an wand for easy application and a good hold without making your brows go crispy. It also comes with a good amount of product. I used this continuously for more than a year before using it up.

NYX HD eyeshadow primer

Now an affordable eyeshadow primer is one thing that I find difficult to find. But I found one! The NYX eyeshadow primer is one that works as well as the Too Faced Shadow Insurance or Urban Decay Primer Potion for me and it lasts a good while as well. As you can see this product has been well-loved and that’s a good sign when it comes to make up products. This makes my eyeshadow last all day and even holds up on the longest and most strenuous of days.

Essence Superfine eyeliner pen

I love the Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner, but the Essence which costs about a quarter of the price of the Maybelline one is almost as good. It has a tendency to run a little bit on me, but at less than 3 euros a piece, it doesn’t really matter. This liner is super opaque and black and even for a liquid liner noob like myself, it is easy to use.

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer

If you read blogs, then I’m sure you have heard of this concealer. Unfortunately only available in the UK, Collection’s concealer is a cult favorite. It has a fairly thick structure, but still works well under the eyes. This is a great all-rounder that can tackle anything from a spot of redness, a major zit or those bags under your eyes in a jiffy. What’s probably best about it is that is lasts a long time. I used up one tube and it lasted me nearly 2 years.

Catrice Liquid Metal eyeliner pencils

Lately I’ve been digging some pencil liner to tightline my upper an lower lashline again. And what do I reach for almost every day? A Catrice liquid metal liner. They are soft, they are creamy, they are twist up and the brown is just an absolute gorgeous shade. This has been one of my favorite drugstore finds for years, but sadly it isn’t a much talked about product.

Catrice Ultimate Colour lipsticks

If you happen to find Catrice, then one product I can highly recommend are their Ultimate Colour lipsticks. I don’t care much for their other lines and I always come back to this one. It has some stunning shades, but sadly many colors are replaced in their semi-annual seasonal change. The line currently consists of some pretty nudes, gorgeous brights and vampy darker shades which are creamy, comfortable and fairly long lasting.

    • Revlon is incredibly hard to find over here. πŸ™ Plus the shade selection for foundations in our drugstores is atrocious. Even if a line has many more shades we only get like 4.
