You know I am a sucker for all things pretty packaging when it comes to my make up. But did you know that I extend that courtesy to my book buying as well? Well now you do and today I will be talking you through 6 books that I pretty much bought solely because I loved the cover.

Yes 6, not 5, because I couldn’t count when I started taking the pictures.

Lee Bross – Tangled Webs

Review

This book wasn’t the best book ever. But then again, does it need to be if it looks like this? I hunted this book down after seeing it at one Barnes & Nobles in NYC last year and not finding it anywhere afterwards. I even stalked down a couple on the streets of Chicago with a Barnes & Nobles bag to ask them where the nearest store was located. Which meant that on my last day of my trip, I finally found it again. The vibrant pink lace makes this book standout and it runs throughout the book in black and white as chapter headings as well.

David Mitchell – Slade House

I featured this book in a haul earlier this year and haven’t read this yet. I just loved the design of this the minute I saw it. The paperback edition only has half the appeal as the hardback has a red shiny layer that line up with the red details on the simple monochrome cover. I am still not even sure what this book is about, but I have heard this is a companion book to one of his other books. So perhaps I should read that first?

Patrick Rothfuss – The Wise Man’s Fear

When it comes to epic fantasy Patrick Rothfuss apparently takes the cake. However, I hadn’t heard of this series until earlier this year. I heard about it on booktube, but then spotted this book at my local drugstore and the cover just sucked me in. Of course I had to go out and find the first book in this cover as well. Turns out I had already spotted these books at my local bookstore many times before but the covers just didn’t draw me in. So a good cover can truly make or break your interest in a book.

Emma Itäranta – The City of Woven Streets

Another book that totally got me going just by the cover alone, is the City of Woven Streets. This appears to be another fantasy book (don’t they just do the best covers?) and is another one I have yet to read. There is just something about the outline of a city on the front in this stunning blue/ teal/ turquoise color scheme. It truly make it stand out between all the other books on the table and the blurb in the back made me want to buy it even more.

Natasha Pulley – The Watchmaker of Filigree Streeet

The minute I spotted this I had to have it. The green, the gold, the decor and then that cut out watch on the front: could this be any more perfect? This book is set in the Victorian era and I love any book set in Victorian times especially if it takes place in London. It seems mysterious and fast paced and I just love how detailed this cover looked. I am a bit afraid of that cut out ripping or tearing when I take this off my shelves or if I were to put it into a bag, but I will just have to be extra careful.

Victoria Aveyard – Glass Sword

Review

The final book I wanted to show you but forgot to include in the overall picture is this stunner of a book. I love the Red Queen series and part of that are the covers. I would pick the Glass Sword cover over the Red Queen cover though. There is just something about that bloody crystal crown that makes me want to open this book and read it. It is dark, it’s mysterious and goes with the actual book very nicely.
