Music of the Moment (November 2016)

My oh my, almost the last Music of the Moment of the year. Well, quite possibly the last one, because I am not sure yet whether I will do a December edition of this blog post or whether I will use the end of year blog post to do one big recap of all of my music favorites. Let me know in a comment what you think I should do! But for now we are focusing on this month’s music favorites and I have quite a few to share with you again.

Terrane – Over You

This calm track was one of the first that I came across in my list of newly acquired music that struck me as worth a share. I’ve been having some busy weeks this month and so it’s great to listen to some music. It always helps me to unwind and this track most certainly does.

Sibling – Revolve

This dark and mysterious track is perfect for fall. The weather has been moody and this song has a great bass and is very atmospheric. I love a good dark track when the days become darker and darker and this track has been filling that need.

Madame Gandhi – Yellow Sea

When I first heard this song it immediately stood out. The distorted repetitive vocals of the intro made me want to hear more and this song doesn’t disappoint. I like song that have something weird and unexpected and this is no exception to the rule.

Jagwar Ma – Slipping

A great indieband that is worth a listen is Jagwar Ma. Their track Man I Need is one of my favorites and has made it to my shortlist of favorite songs ever since discovering is more than 3 years ago. They finally released some new stuff these past few months and I’m really liking it. It’s a touch more poppy and electronic then their older stuff, but still distinctly Jagwar Ma.

Too Door Cinema Club – Bad Decisions

Of course I also like some more mainstream finds and one band that I have been really into since they released their latest album is Too Door Cinema Club. I’ve liked the band on and off for some time, but it wasn’t until Beacon was released that I truly started liking their music. Their latest album Gameshow is another great one with nothing but hits, but definitely something new. Bad Decisions channels some oldschool Bee Gees with disco vibes, catchy hooks and easy to sing along to chorus.

Echos – Gold

You know you are into music if within the time span of just a few months you like nearly every song an artist puts out. Echos might very well be one of my new favorites. Another melancholic track, but nonetheless beautiful and don’t forget that splendid build up at the end!

Tycho – Slack

One thing that has become clear while going through my favorite songs is that I am really into my more electronic oriented music styles. Tycho blends more acoustic and more electronic styles seamlessly together into a mesmerizing instrumental track. It is well-balanced and nothing too overdone and bleepy, but definitely has something more to it that keeps it interesting to listen to.

Overjoy – Airport Song

An instant favorite this month was Overjoy’s Airport Song. The vocals feel familiar and sweet. The lyrics are easy to follow, there is a certain mellow feel to it that just makes this song so easy going and soothing I could listen to it all day. Yes, this is my jam.

What so Not – Divide & Conquer

This is one of those tracks that doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be. Dubstep break beat? Or an acoustic track? For some reason this strange mix works and I like the blend. Best of both worlds!

Honne – Warm on a Cold Night

The final track is not new by any means. I already thought I’d heard this before and I might have as this was first released 2 years ago. But now that Honne’s name is steadily becoming more and more prominent, it was a matter of time this would be re-released. If you like your easygoing electroindiepop, then this for you. Again, mellow vibes, laidback beats and dragged out almost moan like vocals make this track one of the best ones to chill to.
