When I hauled my Colourpop items, you could already see the bits I bought. Apart from the Ultra Satin Lip, I also bought one Lippie Stix and two Ultra Matte Lip. While I loved the formula of the Ultra Satin Lip, the shades I picked up ended up not being the most everyday wearable shades. Would I have better luck with the Lippie Stix & Ultra Matte Lip?
Colourpop Lippie Stix Tootsi
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Tulle & Avenue
Colourpop is known for their affordable lip products and I bought these during the Black Friday sales on a discount. I paid no more than $5 dollars for each product here, but normally the Lippie Stix retail for $5 and the Ultra Matte Lip for $6. The Lippie Stix have become cult favorites in the beauty community while the Ultra Matte Lip liquid lipstick seem to have lovers and haters for various reasons.
The availability of these products is what held me back purchasing any Colourpop items. An online only brand is always tricky as swatches can only get you so far. For a long time Colourpop didn’t ship to Europe either so it took a while before we could get our hands on it. While an affordable brand and having free shipping, I ended up having to pay nearly €25 worth in duties and handling fees before I could pick up my parcel. So if you’re in Europe it is wise to stick to the €22 duty free limit.
Colourpop Lippie Stix Tootsi
I only bought one Lippie Stix as I already own a tremendous amount of regular lipsticks so I could not justifying more than one. My main aim was to simply try the formula. The packaging is simple: a white long tube with the color of the lipstick on the end. Each product comes in its individual cardboard box.
The reason why I picked up Tootsi is because the name description and swatches appealed to me. Tootsi is described as a pinky greige and I love grey toned pinks on me. They are wearable for everyday, but are a bit more special than your average nude. I was hoping Tootsi to be a great everyday neutral.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Tulle
Tulle was a color I was very excited for. The minute I spotted this I was hoping it would be good. The Ultra Matte look identical to the Ultra Satin Lip. The only difference is the name on the tube and a sticker at the bottom. I’d have preferred it if the Ultra Matte packaging would have been slightly different so it is easier to identify which product you’re grabbing for in your stash.
Tulle is described as a dusty burgundy, but when I got it I felt it looked more like a pinky brown. As with many of the Colourpop shades I ordered, this one appears a lot darker in real life than it does in swatches or what you might gauge from a color description. I find that is a regular thing for Colourpop items, so if you are looking into buying some of their products, than bear in mind that each shade will be touch darker than you will anticipate.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Avenue
The doe foot applicator for the Ultra Matte is similar to those of the Ultra Satin. I really like these: they are very precise and with this type of product it is a must. Especially these Ultra Matte Lip lipsticks: once they dry down, they will not budge, so being able to apply these as precisely as possible from the start is a good thing.
Avenue is described as a deep brick red and I love myself some red so I knew I would love this no matter what. Again, this is a far more intense than I had anticipated, but what a shade! I think this looks absolutely gorgeous. If you’re looking for an intense red shade that adds some instant vamp to any look, than this is your shade.
The Swatches

Tootsi is a pinky browny nude and goes on like a dream. This formula is creamy and doesn’t last too long on the lips, but it is very comfortable. This is the great everday neutral lipstick I was looking for.
Tulle is another pink toned brown, but this is much more intense. I think this is best described as a chocolate brown with a hint of pink. This dries down very quickly to a super matte finish and can be quite drying on the lips to the point where it gets uncomfortable.
Avenue is a brown toned red which is a type of red I love but don’t own much of yet. Like Tulle, this dries down to a super matte finish that won’t budge. My trick has been to apply lip balm and then this straight onto it. This trick makes these Ultra Matte Lips a lot more comfortable to wear while not giving up on wear time.
The Looks

Tulle is a great everyday nude that I think will be perfect on no make up make up days or when I bust out a more daring colorful look. It is incredibly close to my natural lip color: just a hint more brown which is why I think this works.

My favorite of the three? Tulle is a stunning shade and very unique to my collection. I feel it works well against my complexion and goes well with more neutral eye looks while not being too overbearing.

Avenue is simply stunning as well. This is the lipstick I’m wearing in my new profile picture! As you can see, I smudged it on the side of my lip as I made a mistake and this just wouldn’t budge and I couldn’t fix it no matter how hard I tried. The only way to make sure this goes on well after making a mistake is to take it all off and start over.
The Conclusion
This has to be my favorite bunch of Colourpop products so far. The Ultra Satin Lip have a great formula, but those shades just weren’t necessarily for me. These shades I love and the wear time is great and as long as you wear a lip balm underneath the Ultra Matte work just fine. The Lippie Stix is a great neutral, but if I had to pick only one than the Ultra Matte Lip would definitely be a product I’d be interested in buying more of.
