New Etos Bodycare

Etos has renewed their body range and the minute I saw these, I knew I wanted to try some. The new products are an extension to their hand and body range and are to be used for quick spruce me up moments when you have little time or for those longer pampering sessions. There are 12 products in total ranging from body lotions and creams to hand cream and skin oils. I was lucky to receive some of the products as a press sample and today I’m reviewing them for you.

Almond & Jojoba skin oil

In case you don’t know, Etos is the name brand beauty line of the drugstore of the same name. They do make up and plenty of other beauty related products and their bodycare range is one thing that I love about the brand. Etos products are affordable and I swore by their shampoos and shower gels when I was a student. It’s good value for money and I had been meaning to try their renewed bodycare line ever since it was revamped last year. Now I finally got that chance.

Etos Lotus Flower body lotion

I am not much of a body lotion person, but when I saw this was in a lotus flower scent I became curious. I usually love musky, oriental smells, so this sounded right up my street. At only €2.49 for 200 ml of product, it doesn’t break the bank either.

The body lotion has your typical body lotion structure. It is thick and creamy, yet allows itself to blend into the skin evenly. The only reason why I am not a fan of body lotions is what they do for my skin: if I use a product like this, I need it to do a little bit more.

As far as body lotions go, however, this is a good product. It nourishes and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated. The only thing I couldn’t get over was the scent. In the tube it smelled very pleasantly, but it became too much the moment I put this on my skin. It is a nice smell, don’t get me wrong, but it’s too strong and overpowering which wasn’t a good combo with my asthma. I found the scent to be heady and I immediately started wheezing as a results. So while this is a good product, it is not for me.

Etos Lotus Flower body cream

The body cream is only slightly more expensive than the body lotion. At €3.99 for 250 ml of product, it is still very affordable as far as bodycare products go. As this is a cream it has a far thicker texture, but it is not as buttery smooth as the TBS Body Butters for instance. It simply feels less rich than that and since those are my favorite body moisturizers, any product I try is compared to that performance level.

What I like about the product is the hygienic packaging. I love how this cream comes in a sealed jar. That’s a nice touch and ensures that no one was able to stick their hands in in store before you purchase it. It also means that the product will stay nice and fresh until you start using it.

I already mentioned I would be comparing this to the TBS Body Butters as those are my favorites. And that is a tough product to beat. I found this to be less buttery soft and more gel like. It is not as rich as a body butter, but it is definitely denser than the body lotions I’m showing you today. To me, this felt like a big tub of facial moisturizer consistency wise.

However, I would refrain from putting this on your face. You might use it that way, but again, as with the body lotion, the scent of this was just too much for me. I don’t imagine putting this too close to my nose as that might just lead on a full blown asthma attack. And I’d rather avoid that.

Etos Gallica Rose body lotion

Before you think I’m a Debbie Downer, some of these products I really liked. Take this body lotion for instance. It has the exact same substance as the Lotus Flower one, but with a much gentler, rosy smell. I would describe this as a pleasant smell: a little bit sweet and girly, yet floral and distinctly rose.

I am not usually a fan of rose scented products, but this just takes the cake. Combined with the nice texture of the body lotion and the nourishing qualities brought on by the added Vitamin E, this is a product I can see myself reaching for more often. In fact, I am planning to take this with me traveling as I can see how this might be a good body lotion after a long day out in the sun. A real pick me up for your skin!

Etos Almond & Jojoba skin oil

THE product that piqued my interest most were their new skin oils. There are 4 different ones and at only €3.99 for 150 ml, this just can do no wrong. Apart from the Almond & Jojoba skin oil, they also do a massage oil, Olive & Sunflower version as well as an Argan & Avocado oil. There is nothing I don’t love about this product, starting with the packaging.

Packaging wise this comes in a spray bottle. Such an easy way to apply this. It ensures that you don’t apply too much and it makes it a quick and easy product to use. While I wouldn’t use a body lotion or cream on my face any time soon, this is one of those products that makes for a great allrounder.

My worries about skin oils is usually the oily residue they might leave on your skin. This product promises to hydrate your skin, but to be absorbed quickly. That is why I feel this is best described as a dry oil. And that’s exactly what this is!

All I did was spray two spritzes on the back of my hand and then I gently rubbed it in. My skin felt smooth and nourished immediately and there was no sticky feeling afterwards. It took less than 3 minutes for the product to be absorbed and I love how easy it is to use. I think this is a great moisturizer to use if you’re into fake tanning as it spreads so easily and equally along the skin.

The Conclusion

The new Etos bodycare collection has a few hits and misses for me. The Lotus Flower line while seeming the most up my street ended up being my least favorite products. Not because they aren’t good products, but because I found the scent to be too overwhelming. That is why I prefer the Gallica Rose body lotion. My biggest favorite is the Almond & Jojoba skin oil. In fact, I love it so much that I think I may have to get myself the Argan & Avocado one as well.

What do you think of these new Etos products?
