Catrice Light & Shadow Contouring Blush

Peachy blush tones for spring are some of my favorites. Where I wear little to no peach blushes in the winter time and opt for dusty pinks instead, I bust out the peach blush in full throttle every year come spring time. Whether I opt for Milani Luminoso, MAC’s Fresh Honey, or my Kiko Apricot blush, peach is where it is at. When I spotted Catrice doing a stunning peach shade too, I picked it up and tried it out.

Catrice Light and Shadow Contouring blush 020 A Flamingo in Santo Domingo

The Light and Shadow Contouring blush line is new for spring/ summer 2017 in Catrice’s range. It comes in three different shades:  a bronze, a pink and a peach. It retails for €3.99 and comes with a blush as well as a highlight. The bronze shade seemed too warm for me for contouring and the pink came with a cool toned highlight. That is why the peach version stood out to me the most as it appeared to be the most unique.

The Packaging

The packaging of this product is simple. The clear plastic case doesn’t come with a mirror, but you can instantly see the shade. The compact is slim and the pan spans the entire face of the product. This means you get a fair amount of product: 8 grams to be exact.

My one gripe about how this looks is the fact that the highlighter and blush are one pan. This makes the highlight fairly small in size and things could easily get messy. The upside is that the blush is matte and that if you were to swirl your brush into this you could easily mix the two shade and create a more glowy blush.

The Swatches

This product is mostly very subtle and natural looking. The swatches reflect this. These aren’t the most in your face blush and highlight on the market. The pigment is decent enough, but nothing too mind blowing. This makes the product easy to apply and I love that.

The highlight is the lesser product of the two. The powder only has a hint of glow, but it does have a stunning warmed toned peachy undertone, which is my one reason for buying this over the other two shades. The blush applies smoothly and is easy to blend. I love this shade on my cheeks right now as it gives a very natural flushed look.

The Look

Contour

Blush

To show you how natural these products are, I of course have to add some close ups. In the top row, I am not wearing anything on my cheeks apart from contour & bronzer. On the second picture I have added the highlight. You can only detect a small amount of sheen. This is nothing like the Becca Champagne Pop highlight, but that means it is hard to overapply.

In the bottom picture I have applied the blush and you can see the smallest amount of peach blush on my cheeks. I love it. I love how you can simply add more and more without looking like a clown. It is a very fresh faced look and I think that is perfect for the spring time. Paired with a neutral eye and a bright lip, this has been my go to blush all week.

The Conclusion

The Catrice Light and Shadow Contouring blush is a natural, soft product that is great for everyday looks. If you’re looking for a blush and highlight that have a huge impact, this isn’t for you. But if you like your blush to look natural and fresh faced, then this is a product you may want to check out.

What do you prefer?
Kapow in your face blush or subtle easy to blend ones?
