My favorite perfumes

Fragrance isn’t a topic I talk about much. Firstly, it’s difficult to portray what you say as smells are so difficult to describe and therefore blog posts tend to become quite vague. I therefore not always find it useful to read or write about perfumes. Let’s hope they invent smell-o computer screens soon! But in the mean time, I thought I’d update you on my 5 favorite perfumes.

5 favorite perfumes

It took a while for me to figure out what I like in a perfume. After a lot of trial and error, I found a couple of favorites. I generally like musky smells, with some jasmine and a touch of freshness to them. That being said, I like each of the fragrances below for different reasons and in different seasons. Two of these are my fall/ winter scents. Then another two are my spring/ summer favorites and my all time favorite, or signature fragrance is also in this list.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

This is one of the last perfumes I bought. I remember wanting a Chanel perfume. Chanel perfumes can be quite heady though and that isn’t a great match with my asthma. So while I love the scent of the classic Chanel No. 5, it just isn’t for me. Then I smelt this! It is a lighter, easier version of No. 5 in my opinion and I love wearing this in the winter time and during special occasions. It gives that feeling of instant chic when you wear this and I always receive compliments when I do.

Dolce & Gabbana Dolce

This was a bit of a spur of the moment purchase at the time, but I love this. It’s a very light and floral scent. Many people think it’s a bit too samey samey to other things out there, but for me this is a just a great spring fragrance. It is light, fresh and feminine, without being overly sweet. It stays on quite well, but of all the perfumes here, this lasts the shortest.

Balenciaga Florabotanica

If I was only allowed to keep one fragrance it would be this one. Balenciaga Florabotanica has featured on this blog several times and for a good reason. This is my signature scent. This is one of those perfumes that works no matter the outfit, occasion, season and time of day. I love how it starts very fresh and minty, but develops into a heavier more musky base. Again one that receives a lot of compliments and not one that everyone and their mother wears either.

Marc Jacobs Daisy

The only Eau de Toilette in the bunch, but that has a reason. I was going to buy the Eau de Parfum, but then I tried it on and it gave me a really bad rash. This didn’t and it has been my favorite summer scent ever since. I go for this especially around my birthday and the latter days of the school year, so it reminds me of that. The height of summer, grading papers and lots and lots of sunshine.

Chloé Love, Chloé

Love Chloé is one of those perfumes that I love in the fall time especially. It has a very powdery scent, but not in that yucky old lady way. It still has some freshness and warmth to it and I always find myself reaching for this in the months leading up to Christmas. It has become a bit difficult to get a hold of, but when this runs out, I will definitely track down a back up.
