Top 6 blush for summer

Are you melting? I know I am! It’s been seriously hot this week and the heatwave is on. Despite that, I’m still wearing make up, but I keep it very very minimal. I never, ever forego blush though: it is a must have in my make up routine as I feel I look pale and pasty without it. I thought I’d share with you my top 6 favorite blushes for the summer time.

Top 6 blush for summer

ELF Baked Blush Rich Rose. I reviewed this blush not too long ago and already dubbed it one of my favorites. I love the muted subtle look this gives. It gives a healthy glowy look to the skin and I am all about that in the summer time. I love neutral blushes year round though, but only light washes of color are also great when you’re hot and sweaty.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Achiote. My first Tarte blush has not yet been blessed with a review just yet, but I couldn’t help but include it here. When your face starts to seriously melt, then this is pretty much the only thing that will stay put. The funny thing about Tarte blushes is that they swatch horribly, but they look stunning on the face.

I <3 Make Up Summer of Love Love Hot Summer Bronzer. Yup, I use bronzer as blush. This is like the amped up version of the ELF blush. It is bronzy, it is shimmery and has a pinky undertone because it has red veining running through it. This is a baked product that is too sparkly as a bronzer for my tastes, but that works stunning on my cheeks if I’m a bit more tanned in the summer time.

Milani Baked Blush Luminoso. Who doesn’t love this blush? I find it difficult to pull of most peach toned blushes most of the year, but in the summer time I make a happy exception. Notice how this is the 3rd baked product already? It’s because I love baked products in the summer time. They are always so luminous and gorgeous on the cheeks. I reviewed this blush here.

H&M Blush Tawny Peach. An all time favorite neutral blush is this one by H&M. Tawny Peach is one of those barely there blush shades that looks like it will do nothing in the pan. But don’t be fooled: this blush has enough pigment to it to add a pretty flush of color to the cheeks. This is especially great if you’re a pale skinned lady like myself and are afraid of overdoing it.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Mood Exposure. I’m sure you were expecting Diffused Heat here, but I have raved enough about that. Time to sing the praises of another Hourglass blush. Mood Exposure is similar to Tawny Peach by H&M in that it is a stunning neutral. Be it more pigmented, easier to blend and longer wearing. This is a year round staple that cannot be missed in my summer top 6 favorite blushes.

Time for swatches! As you can see, there are all very much within a similar color family, but that’s just what I’m into at the moment. All of these are peachy/ mauvy shades and none of them are too bright. Nonetheless, I think these work great for summer as they all have a healthy sheen to it that means you won’t have to use a highlight if you don’t want to. And I don’t know about you, but I’m all about keeping it simple when my face feels like it’s about to melt off.
