This must be a first! The first time that I’m reviewing a hair brush that is. But I have had this thing for years, skeptical, as most hair brushes cause my hair to break and not do much good of anything for my hair. I had seriously considered buying the very expensive Mason Pearson brush, but at €100 that was a little steep for my budget. So I looked around and found out that a brand called Denman is sold in UK drugstores that does a very similar looking brush at a fraction of the price. 
Denman Grooming hair brush
This is the Denman Grooming brush and at 10 pounds this was very affordable indeed. The only downside to this is that you can only get it in the UK and since I got mine a few years ago already, I’m not even sure if this is currently still on sale or at what price. But it’s a great brush nonetheless and I wanted to rave about a product I truly love, no matter how mundane it gets.
The Packaging
You can tell this is a cheaper product due to the packaging this comes in. Its much more expensive counterpart comes in a nice looking box. This is just a random plastic case. Not necessarily a reason for not liking this brush: it’s the product that counts.
What it does
This brush comes with natural and nylon bristles. Bristle types I used to avoid because I felt it never really brushed my hair well enough. But this promises it will. Denman brushes have been around for a long time and the promise on these brushes is that they also last a long time if you take proper care of them. I used to use cheap brushes that I could pretty much throw away every year before this. I’ve had this one for 3 years and it is still going strong!
The Promises
I have found this brush to do exactly what it promises to do: smooth and groom my hair. My hair looks less frizzy after using this than with regular brushes and it does an okay job at detangling my hair. My hair is quite thick and I have quite a lot of hair so it does take some time, but with a little bit of patience this brush always gets the job done. It’s a nice brush to use for finishes up a look as well, but I don’t like my hair looking too overstyled. I generally only brush my hair before I wash it, which would amount to 3 times a week. The more I brush my hair, the more damaged it gets, but this handles it quite nicely.
What’s so special about this?
The main selling point of this brush are the combined bristles. And I have to say it works. The nylon fibres are strong enough to detangle my hair, while the natural bristles do a good job at combatting frizz. I haven’t even looked at buying another brush for 3 whole years, where before I would go through brushes like crazy. They would break, tear, become difficult to clean or whatever, but I have had no troubles with this one. I can easily remove built up loose hairs by using a pointed comb to take out all of the hairs. I then just rinse the brush under lukewarm water to get rid of any product and that’s about it.
The Conclusion
The Denman hair brush has been a game changer for me. I know that if this ever falls apart and I need a new one that looking into its more expensive counterpart won’t necessarily be a must, but it may be worth it as I really enjoy this style of brush. Of I might just wait out a trip to London and pick up a new one if need be. This is a great brush that gets the job done.

I don’t know why but I want the Mason Pearson brush just because of the hype… I don’t even brush my hair! 😆
The Denman version looks really comparable but without the hefty price tag!
I’m not lying when I say I do not brush my hair… it doesn’t really knot up. Plus, since it’s wavy, brushing it makes it frizzy. So I only run my fingers through my hair when I’m in the shower and that’s it. 😛
I can totally get why you wouldn’t brush it at all. My hair is wavy too, but not too much so I brush is before washing it. That way I can minimize the frizz.
