Catrice just seems to keep on bringing out new products. Just last week they released their latest summer limited edition: Soleil D’Eté and I was very much intrigued by the products. It’s a very summery collection with lots of bronzes and metallics. I decided to pick up the liquid bronzer, the powder bronzer and the highlighter.
Catrice Soleil D’Été
Sun Stripping bronzer C01 Each and Every Sun
Duo Highlighter C01 Gentle Sun Glow
Sheer Serum Bronzer C01 InsTANned Complexion
Like the regular line, these products are incredibly affordable. The Sheer Serum Bronzer retails for €4.99. The powder bronzer costs €4.59 and the highlighter €4.99. That is just expensive as the normal products would be. I have never tried any of the Catrice bronzers: they are usually too orange for me. But these ones looked quite appealing, be it a bit dark. So here’s how I fared with these products.
Catrice Sheer Serum Bronzer C01 InsTANned Complexion
The one product that intrigued me most was the serum bronzer. A liquid bronzer!! I have never tried anything like this before, so I was very curious to see how this would go. You get a fairly generous amount of 14 ml in the bottle.
Packaging wise this bronzer comes with a little pipette dropper, like the Light Correcting Serum Primer I reviewed last Monday. I find this type of packaging very handy as it makes it very easy to not go overboard with a product like this.
When I swatched this I was a bit overwhelmed though. This is one dark bronzer and a little goes a very long way. At first it also looked a little bit orange, but as I sheered it out more and more I quite liked it. It gives a very warm glow which can be nice perhaps even on other areas apart from the face to give a bit more color if you’re pale like me.
This product settles down quickly though, so you have to be quick with your application. But once it’s own this will need remover to come off. So that’s another plus. I don’t think you should go swimming with this per se, but this is definitely sweat proof.
Catrice Sun Stripping bronzer C01 Each and Every Sun
My very first Catrice bronzer! Woohoo! As I mentioned, most Catrice bronzers looks a bit orange in the pan, but this didn’t. This seems to have more of a reddish undertone and it looks to be fully matte, which is always a plus. I don’t mind a hint of shine with my bronzers, but I’m usually not too keen on too much of it.
The compact is simple and straight forward, but I like how Catrice always goes the extra mile. This time this shows in the fun pattern that is etched into the powder. It just gives the powder a much more luxurious look.
Swatched this again surprised me. This is one pigmented bronzer! But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. As long as you use a light hand, it should be no problem. The powder has a finely milled texture, but I don’t find it too powdery, nor too stiff. It’s a good in between.
Catrice Duo Highlighter C01 Gentle Sun Glow
Like the bronzer, the highlight comes in a simple compact. The lines in the powder correspond to the geometric design of the compact and when I first spotted this, I thought it might be a blush. But it’s not. Catrice very specifically states this is a highlight and now that I’ve used and swatched it I concur.
But if you know your make up, then you know why I though this might be a blush right? Yup, this design totally reminds me of the Charlotte Tilbury blushes (which I don’t own, but it’s on the wishlist). Like the Charlotte Tilbury blushes, this highlight comes with a darker tone in the middle and a lighter tone on the edge around it. In the pan: not so spectacular, but I was happily surprised when I swatched these.
I had a hard time capturing the actual glow. On the left: the middle shade. On the right: the outer shade. I especially like that second one as I think that will suit my complexion quite nicely. The other one seems a little bit too dark, but it might function as an eyeshadow as it seems to have a good amount of pigmentation. Like the powder bronzer this powder is not too stiff, not too powdery.
The Application
Before – After
I first applied the liquid bronzer on my bare skin. I figured that even if it would be too dark for me, if I were to apply foundation on top, that it would be able to tone it down some. But I like it, even on its own. It makes me look tan (that’s something new!) and a lot less pasty. It nicely warms up my skin and it really isn’t too dark with me.
What I did is apply a bit on the back of my hand and then I dotted it around one area of my face before moving on to the next. I blended every thing in with a buffer brush and it worked just fine.

Highlight
If you’re thinking, but Maaike, you’re already wearing something on your cheeks in the first picture, then that’s right. I am wearing the liquid bronzer and a cream blush and highlight. I just wanted to see how this would layer over that. And I like the result.
Again, the bronzer adds a nice bit of warmth to my skin without it going overboard. Yes, I did have to go in lightly, but I like the effect it gives. It has a very warm tone and it goes together well with the liquid bronzer. So this is a great combo if I want to go super tan in the summer time.
For the highlight, I only used the lightest shade in the pan and I really like it! It adds just the right amount of glow and I like the look it gives. I had to be careful picking up the color though as it would be easy to get into the darker shade as well, but I am also looking forward to trying these swirled together.
The Conclusion
These Catrice Soleil D’Été products may be harder to get your hands on than some of the other new products they’ve launched, since this is a limited edition. But if you do happen to find them around, then I can highly recommend the bronzers and highlighter in this collection. Especially if you are fair skinned like me, it can be hard to find bronzers and highlighters that work. Snatch them up while you can!
Would you wear liquid bronzer?
