Popular books I didn’t like

So I love to read, but not every read can be a success. So there are plenty of books that I read that are a bit of a let down. And some of those books are or were very popular. But just because they are popular doesn’t mean that everyone will enjoy them. Of course if these are some of your favorite books, then please don’t be offended. There was just something about these that didn’t work out for me. Here’s why. popular books I didn't like

Popular books I didn’t like

So this video isn’t all about being salty. In a few weeks time I will certainly do the positive version of this as there are plenty of popular books that I absolutely love. I just thought I’d split it over 2 videos. So stay tuned if you’d like to see that. In the mean time, let’s talk about some books I didn’t like.

Books mentioned:
Jessie Burton – The Miniaturist
Maggie Stiefvater – The Raven Cycle
Cassandra Clare – The Dark Artifices series
Gillian Flynn – Gone Girl
Ransom Riggs – Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

What popular books didn’t work out for you?

  1. While I do love Gone Girl, I’m right there with you on Miss Peregrine’s. I found this wholly disappointing even as a set up for future books.
I did decide awhile back that if I was truly not enjoying a book I was not obligated to finish it. It’s been difficult. In fact I’m listening to one right now that I’m not in love with & struggling to decide if I will see it through to the end. Seriously though, no sense spending leisure time on something that isn’t enjoyable.
