How I wear yellow

Yellow is one of the IT colors for the summer season this year and I thought that I could show you how I like to wear yellow. Especially after last week’s fashion post where I showed you some of my recently worn outfits. There I wore a white dress with a yellow cardigan that many of you seemed to like, so I thought I’d show you some variations on that theme.  

How I wear yellow

The Shoe

This first outfit is all about the shoes. The dress has a hint of yellow to it but it is mostly blue. I like the clash of the blue and the yellow. So to compliment that I threw in this pair of flats that I have had for years, but that I still love. They are so much fun to wear for the summer time and they are surprisingly comfortable. Especially regarding the fact that they are flats, which can be killing for your feet.

Monochrome

Anyone up for an all yellow look? This outfit pairs a patterned yellow with a solid yellow, but because both items are quite light and airy, it still works. The shoes have a pretty high heel, so they are not something I wear on the daily, but I just loved them too much to pass them up. I love wearing them with floaty summer dresses such as these, as they add that flirty girly look that is perfect for the summer time.

This is not an outfit I wear this time of year, but I also wanted to show you that yellow can be worn year round. A soft yellow blouse such as this, pairs so well with forest greens that it makes for a great fall time outfit. I wear this at least a few times every fall time and while this blouse has been through the wringer, I still grab for it every so often.

The Cardigan

Another fall time outfit that I love is this one. This cardigan pairs so well with so many of my outfits and that is because it is a mustard. Mustard yellow is like the new black for me. I have tried to incorporate more of the shade into my wardrobe, as I find it looks surprisingly flattering on my complexion. So this cardigan with an otherwise quite monochrome outfit is a great one as it really makes for a great pop, especially in the colder months.

The Lace Throw

So this is a the kind of combo I love for a yellow. This lace throw on jacket/ cardigan is one of my favorite summer pieces and I whip it out every year. I love putting it with dresses that are sleeveless to add that feature on. Which is why I paired it with that white dress and here with this palm leaf print dress. Sadly, the dress is currently a touch too tight on me and the zipper won’t fully close, but I hope to be able to fit into it again soon, so I can hopefully throw it on as it is a great dress for work and incredibly flattering on.

The Dress

A solid yellow like this I find trickiest to wear. It can be a bit too much and wash you out. However, this dress is quite sheer and I tend to wear it with a black layer underneath. That way the dress has something to contrast with and it works great on me that way. So that goes to show: if you’re unsure of something, just give it a shot and see how it fits!
