I Heart Revolution mini palettes

Tambeauty is keeping the releases on a roll and one of their newest releases is a set of mini palettes that correspond with some of the larger palettes already part of the line. These are released by I Heart Revolution. It’s not just new palettes that they are releasing, but I Heart Makeup has also been rebranded and renamed accordingly. So let’s see how I like these four I heart Revolution mini eyeshadow palettes.  I heart makeup I heart revolution make up revolution mini eyeshadow palette review swatch nude rose gold chocolate mint chocolate orange

Choc Mint, Rose Gold, Nudes, Choc Orange

These four palettes correspond with the larger palettes of the same name. They aren’t 100% the same, but they are complimentary palettes that go hand in hand with and add on shades that are not in the larger palette. They have a very handy format and retail for £6 each. That is a bit more affordable than the larger palettes and they contain 8 shades each.

The Packaging

These palettes look absolutely adorable. They all come with a good size mirror in the lid, no space is wasted on room for a brush and the packaging is just like the larger chocolate bar palettes they have been doing for year. What started as cheaper dupes for the infamous Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes, I Heart Revolution also started creating their own palettes in a similar format and these four palettes correspond to their more unique selection of palettes.

Personally I prefer to buy the unique palettes from MUR and I Heart Revolution as I’d much prefer to buy the original of many of the dupe palettes that they do. However, if you do want to try a palette to see whether you might like it, the brand can be a good start. Let’s go over each palette one-by-one.

I Heart Revolution Choc Mint mini palette

When I saw these I knew I wanted to have this most. These are my shades! I actually own the larger version of this too as I thought it might be a dupe for Anastasia’s Subculture. It is not, but it is still a stunning palette and I love how this has a couple of great shades that are neutral, yet there is also a pop of color. There are 4 mattes and 4 shimmers, which also means the finishes are nicely balanced.

Choc Mint Swatches

You can see here how there are a few really great shades that will just create a full look. The pigmentation is great, but they don’t go on too pigmented, which means that you can still blend these easily. The palette has a good matte transition, some great dark mattes and enough shimmers to build up the look nicely. I love the pop of teal: it works really well if you have brown eyes.

Choc Mint Application

To create this look, I used all 8 shades as I did for all the looks in this blog post. As the shades do not have any names, it is a bit difficult to describe what I actually did. I used the mattes in the crease, outer v and as a liner. The teal is on my bottom lash and the shimmers are in the inner corner, lower lash line and on the lid. I think this is a great look that complements my eye color well.

Choc Mint Look

I feel these shades went on well and this is the kind of look I can wear on the daily. This is warm toned shadows done well in my book, but we still have three more palettes to go.

I Heart Revolution Rose Gold mini palette

When I spotted these palettes in store, I just couldn’t pick which ones to get, which is why I bought all four of them. This palette was one of the main culprits. This is giving me Huda Beauty Mauve Obsession vibes! Not that I have that palette, but it certainly looks very similar. This has a few more mattes than the Choc Mint with 2 shimmers and 6 mattes.

Rose Gold Swatches

I feel these colors are slightly less pigmented than the Choc Mint palette, but still good. The shades also have a very different undertone, which is also why they seem to blend more into my skin than that they actually stand out. Some of these shades also look a bit samey, but still, there are some great shades here. The mustard, while a bit of an odd shade here, works surprisingly well with the rest of the shades.

Rose Gold Application

I really like these shades: it makes for a good everyday look. This will be pretty to wear to the office or to school. I am missing a good brow bone highlight in this though (an issue I have with all of these palettes), but I love how the mustard works in the crease. The shades have a pretty rose undertone, but not so strong that it makes your eyes look like you have pink eye. It has a great balance between pink and neutral.

Rose Gold The Look

This palette is great for creating a pretty, girly eyelook. This feel very romantic for me. It scream Valentine’s Day and date nights out on the town. While the shades do not look that pigmented, I like how the shades build up and blend out.

I Heart Revolution Nudes mini palette

The Nudes palette is the latest edition to the chocolate bar collection that I Heart Revolution has to offer. So it is great that they have immediately come out with a mini version of the palette. Like the Choc Mint, this has four mattes and four shimmers. And if you place the pictures side by side, you will see that the two palettes are very similar indeed.

Nudes Swatches

If you put these swatches next to the Choc Mint swatches you will be able to see that the only real difference is the cool matte brown that is less intense & pigmented and the reddish burgundy shade replaces the teal. So if you are doubting between those two palettes, your choice will be fairly easily. I do think the undertones of this one are a little bit less intense and more toned down, hence the name of the palette.

Nudes Application

As you can see, the looks this gives is a lot softer than the Choc Mint. As with all of these palettes, I used every shade in the palette. The burgundy is int he outer V and I like how this is a very soft looks. This is a great option if the Rose Gold palette is too pink for you, but you still want a palette that can do a great everyday simple look. Of course you don’t have to use all the shades like I did, but then the result will be even softer and neutral.

Nudes The Look

As you can see, this palette creates a very basic, soft and defined look. Again it is missing a matte brow bone highlight for me, but other than that this is pretty much everything I like in a neutral palette.

I Heart Revolution Choc Orange

Last but not least, palette no. 4 which is a warm, peach and orange toned palette. Like the Rose Gold this has more mattes than shimmers. The shade variety seems a bit bland at first, but this worked surprisingly well. However, super warm tones like this are not my favorite on me, so let’s see how this went.

Choc Orange Swatches

The shades in this palette feel a little out of sync with one another at a glance. There are a lot of warm browns here and some of them have great pigmentation, while others pale in comparison. The shades are also a bit samey-samey on my skin tone, which means it is difficult to really make a distinctive look without working in that intense dark brown, which is easily the stand out shade in the palette.

Choc Orange Application

I heart makeup I heart revolution make up revolution mini eyeshadow palette review swatch nude rose gold chocolate mint chocolate orange

While I like the soft peachy haze this gives, I feel this is the least flattering on, as usual. The gold is a bit too yellow for me with just isn’t a great addition. The brown isn’t intense enough to really be a popping liner shade and most of the other shades kind of muddied together on me.

Choc Orange The Look

I heart makeup I heart revolution make up revolution mini eyeshadow palette review swatch nude rose gold chocolate mint chocolate orange

See what I mean? While other people look like they have an eye disease wearing pink shades, that’s what happens to me a bit with orange tones. As if I have a liver problem. Hence, this isn’t my favorite, but if warm tones are your jam, then this is a great pick for you.

The Conclusion

The quality of these I Heart Revolution mini eyeshadow palettes is excellent and I can only fault them in their shade selection. None of the palettes have a matte brow bone shade that works on my skin tone and not all the shades are flattering on me. My advice? Pick the one that will do the most for you and go with that. It is hard to pick a true favorite here, because I like them all apart from the Choc Orange on me, but that still has some great workable shades for me. If I had to choose I would go for the Choc Mint palette.

  1. Unfortunately, most of your photos didn’t load 🙁
I love your reviews, they are very honest!

  2. Amazing review! I love the looks you made with all the palettes. I was thinking of buying the Rose Gold one sometime soon but first I wanted to read some reviews and I’m so glad I came across yours. Now I am sure that I love this palette 😀 Thank you! P.S. I like the Rose Gold look most on you, but maybe it’s because I just love those colours. 😉
