Styling prints

Prints are some of my favorite way to add a pop to an outfit. Depending on the print you are wearing you can style up an outfit in a more classic, fun, statement way. I love how a print elevates any outfit from basic to something more. So I love wearing prints. Be it full on in a dress or more subtly in a shoe. I like playing around with combining different prints too, but mostly I love combining prints with different textures. Here is how I would style up 5 different prints.  styling prints

This first outfit is also the most full on. The dress is by ASOS and it is a collared shirt dress with a fit and flare skirt and some mini pleating down the front. This is one of my favorite items to wear in the fall time. The colors are perfect for the season and they remind me of the colors the turning leaves have on the trees. I would mostly throw on a cream, beige or black cardigan to keep things neutral and truly make the dress standout. I have also paired with with a forest green cardigan to match the shoes. These wedges have been in my collection for years and I bring them out every fall as they are the perfect match to highlight the green in this dress.

Outfit number two also features a floral print, but in a more muted color palette and in a more dispersed pattern. This blazer is from ZARA and features a Japanese cherry blossom inspired floral print. It is very flowy and loose around the body which is why I love wearing this in the spring time as it dresses up an outfit but still keeps things simple. I decided to play up the neutral shades in the print by adding a khaki green t-shirt and brown boots. The shirt is from Forever 21, the shoes are ASOS, the jeans are Topshop.

This in your face outfit is one I wore quite a bit to concerts and other nights out. The basis of the outfit is all black: a black H&M sweater and black ASOS Chelsea boots. The kicker of this outfit is the galaxy print skirt. This has something psychedelic to it. Sadly, I wasn’t wearing it enough, so I ended up culling it during my most recent declutter, but I do still have this picture to think back on one of my funnest, most out there items that I ever owned.

Paisley print is one that comes and goes in terms of trends. It seems to be coming back in style again a little and I am happy about it as I love a good paisley print. I would still like to own a dress in this type of print. For now, I have to make do with these green ZARA trousers that I got years ago. They are low rise, which is why I no longer wear them a whole lot anymore, as I prefer a high rise, but these are so unique that I can’t let them go. I paired these trousers with a lace Forever 21 blouse and a pair of silver metallic loafers by New Look.

Prints can however also be more basic. One of my favorite prints? Stripes. Together with polka dots prints rule the game for me. I have striped dresses, striped skirts, striped tops, striped cardigans, even striped trousers. In short, it is one that is very versatile and fun to wear. Here I am pairing one of my favorite striped shirts from H&M with some other super casual outfits. Just a basic pair of stone wash Topshop Jamie jeans and my pair of tweed Converse.
