The Ordinary “B” Oil

Face oil is probably one of my favorite skincare products to use and I love trying them. One of my most recent trials is The Ordinary’s “B” Oil. This isn’t necessarily one of the most raved about products by the affordable skincare brand, but it was one that came onto my radar as it is a face oil that should work for many different skin types. Because every skin needs hydration and one of the best ways to do that is via a face oil.

The Ordinary B Oil | Face oil for all skin types

In terms of face oil this is very affordable indeed. And that is something that The Ordinary as a brand is known for. This retails around the €10 mark. There are face oils that retail for 5 times that price point, so this is quite a good price. It boasts to have a couple of great ingredients. If this works well, it is a great affordable option to look into.

The Packaging

As with all The Ordinary products, the look and feel of the product is clean and simple. It looks a bit old fashioned, like you are buying a more old school product, but it is also fuss free. While many expensive skincare brands may look more trendy, this is just very practical packaging. The product comes in a UV-protected container and comes with a dropper style pipette.

The Face Oil

This products boasts about being a blend of different oils as well as combining some purified micro-algae in a squalane solution. This does mean this face oil looks green and smells like seaweed. That was a bit of a shock at first! But in the end with skincare I am looking for something hydrating yet gentle enough for my dehydrated, sensitive skin. I like using roughly one pipette full of oil at night. I don’t like using this in the day time as it is too rich and won’t work under makeup. This product promises to support your skin’s defense against free radicals, enhance radiance and help balance your skin to make it less sensitive.

The Ingredients

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Bisabolol, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Isochrysis Galbana Extract, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Rosa Canina Seed Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Oenocarpus Bataua Fruit Oil, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol.

As you can see this face oil is packed with different kinds of oils so this product does really deliver in terms of ingredients. What they say is in the product is also in there with just a few extra ingredients to make sure the products stays stable and won’t expire too quickly.

The Swatch

The real question of course is whether this works. It does. I feel this is a very lightweight oil that nourishes my skin and is a great basis to build my skincare routine around in the night time. I feel this is a step that really adds a good layer of moisture for my skin. It is absorbed quickly, feels nourishing and doesn’t break me out. When I apply this my skin feels smooth and supple in the morning and it doesn’t clog up pores.

The Conclusion

Overall, The Ordinary “B” Oil is a good basic face oil that gets the job done. It hydrates as it promises, isn’t too rich, while staying playing well with other products and being gentle enough for my skin type. I am liking this enough that I can confidently say that if this runs out, I would want to repurchase it in the future.
