Catrice Brow Comb Pro Micro Pen

I love when Catrice releases new products and they do something I haven’t seen before. For a drugstore brand they are certainly quite adventurous in trying out new formulas, different application methods for tried and true products and sometimes even their shade range can be a bit more adventurous than let’s say a Rimmel or Max Factor. But with so much trial and error and a line that changes faster than you can keep up (well almost!), there are going to be hits and misses. What will my verdict be on the Catrice Brow Comb eyebrow pencil?

Catrice Brow Comb Eyebrow Pencil Ash Brown // Review, Swatch & Application

First up, you should know that this brow product retails for €3.59. That is affordable, but it is just over many Essence products and so far, those take my preference over the Catrice ones. Save for the all time classic Catrice Eyebrow Set of course. That is, till this day, one of the best brow powders on the market in my opinion. So Catrice can do brows well, but for me there have been more misses than hits when it comes to their eyebrow range.

The Packaging

There isn’t much to eyebrow product packaging and this pen like product is no different. The packaging is fuss free, easy to use and there are not twist up or other mechanisms to this. You can just take off the cap and go. There is a sticker on this product though that recommends you store this product upside down (so with the cap down), so the product can trickle into the brush for easier application.

The Brush

Shall we just get to it then? I don’t like this product. AT ALL. Why? Because of this brush tip applicator. First of all, the brush tip is very hard and therefore the little teeth feel like prongs of a fork that stick into your skin. Not a very pleasant feeling let me tell you. If this were a soft brush it would have potential but this is an unwieldy, unbending scratchy torture device.

Secondly, hardly any product is deposited through the brush tip. I can do one brow with this, but then there isn’t enough product left in the tip to apply the next one. I do have two brows, thank you very much and I don’t have in the mornings to put this back onto its cap to wait for more product to settle into the brush tip.

The Swatch

On to another reason why I don’t like this product: the shade. I bought this in the lightest shade: Ash Brown. It isn’t all that light. It isn’t all that cool toned and it isn’t all that precise. While I like the idea of having a fork like three pronged applicator for a quick and easy application, it is also quite messy. It is not precise at all, you go easily outside the line of your brows and it is difficult to stay close enough to it. The stiff brush tip also doesn’t help. It feels scratchy and if you apply too much pressure it feels as if you are scraping your brows with a fork. Yes, the metal kind.

The Application

So despite all that, I still had hoped this would at least look decent on my brows. But you can barely tell I am wearing any brow product at all. This looks super natural. Since it doesn’t really build up and because is difficult to apply and equal amount in each brow, it just doesn’t wow me like I had hoped. This product by Catrice is one with great potential, but sadly it is lacking on all fronts apart from the fact that it is cheap.

My Final Thoughts

To round off, I would like to say that I definitely do not recommend the Catrice Brow Comb Pro eyebrow pen. It nearly hurts to use it, has a shade that is too dark and barely shows up to boot. This is just one of those products that is not worth the hassle. Rather than an innovative brow product this is too gimmicky and just not a joy to use. I will be decluttering this one for sure.

What do you think of the Catrice Brow Comb?

  1. When I saw the felt tip applicator I was like “Eek!” I could tell it wouldn’t work well. Good review though and now we know this one’s not a winner. 🙂
