Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Rose Quartz

My favorite highlighter formula? Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors. I own several and have reviewed them all. Be it the white one in Pearl, the ever popular Champagne Pop, my favorites Vanilla Quartz and Prismatic Amethyst or the golden toned Prosecco Pop: I own several and it comprises every single shade that is good for my skintone. But I was missing one still. Enter Rose Quartz the pink toned highlighter of my dreams.

There is one major downside to Becca highlighters of course. And that would be the price point. Because Becca products do not come cheap and so you need to shell out quite a bit of money for one of these 8 gram highlighters. At €38.75 a piece, it is quite shocking if you realize that I now own 6 of these. My advice to you: find the one shade that works for you and stick to that, that would be more than enough.

The Packaging

Becca’s packaging is iconic and each one of their cheek products comes in a flying saucer like compact. There is a mirror and other than that the focus is all on the product. Since I own a few of these, it is helpful that a few of them have a different shade to the outer packaging. But most of these all have this dark grey and stainless steel look to them. So if you collect a few of these like I did, then it can be difficult to tell them apart.

The Highlighter

I have tried to determine what I like so much about the Becca highlighter, since there is not a single thing I don’t like about these save for the price point. Let’s start with the formula: yes these have a bit of shimmer to them (hence the name), but this is not noticeable once applied to the skin. It is soft and easy to blend and I feel I have a lot of control with these highlighters. I can build them up for a full on Instaglow look, or I can apply just a little bit for a more day to day work appropriate look.

The Shade

Why buy another shade if you already have so many? Well I find pink highlighters that aren’t too icy difficult to find. Rose Quartz is a happy exception and offers a pink hue without an icy undertone. Some pink highlighters can also be a bit too dark if they lean more golden toned. This just keeps the perfect middle ground: it is not too pink, works as a highlighter on my fair skin and it offers something differently. Another plus about Becca highlighters: they have one that suits every skin tone.

The Swatch

So what is my prime reason for loving Becca highlighters so much? Their outstanding formula. I haven’t found any other highlighter that is this creamy, intense and still easy to build up. This swatch is one swipe, no more and there are few highlighter out there that have this effect. Maybe Ofra’s highlighter come close, but Becca has something special to me as I find their formula just a touch easier to work with.

The Application

Because for how intense this looks in a swatch, that’s how natural this looks on the cheeks. With some highlighters, all you get is boom, intense, highlights that can be seen from space. With Becca highlighters you have that option, but if you use just one layer and blend it out well, you get a very natural look that is great for everyday looks. Since I mostly do my makeup to wear to work, I prefer this over anything else. For a pink highlighter I love that this is still quite neutral toned meaning it can be paired with almost any blush shade and overall makeup look.

My Final Thoughts

I started off this review by saying that Becca are my favorite highlighters on the market and the Rose Quartz Shimmering Skin Perfector is no exception. This shade is unique as it is a pink that has no icy white cast yet still works well on my fair skin. They may be expensive, but Becca highlighters are worth every penny to me. Choose one and you will have a highlighter that will work with any makeup look, suits your complexion, wears well and will last you a long time. Well worth the investment indeed!

Have you tried Becca highlighters?

I love that shade! I have Opal and I like it. Great review!

Opal is one that I have been umming and arring about but it is a bit too dark for me.

I just got my very first Becca product in the mail yesterday and it’s their Ultimate Lipstick Love in Cherry. I haven’t tried it on yet, but I’ve swatched it and the color is beautiful. I am not too into highlighter as a general rule. I don’t have much for cheekbones. But after seeing your review, it is tempting me. Some colors (not all) are available in Mini size for $22 USD, which is still a lot of money considering it’s a mini size, but I might just give it a try sometime! 🙂

Using up highlighter is super difficult though, so you’d be better off getting a small size if you don’t wear it much to begin with.

        Yes! That is true.
