Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher review

I had heard so many rave reviews about Korean and Asian makeup and skincare brands for so long that this year I decided to try it. I did a full face of Asian makeup products and one of the stand out products in that video was definitely the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher. I had heard lots of great things about it and so I decided to give it a try. Here’s what happened.

Review: Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher Ginger Honey Cookie

First of all, I always though Asian makeup would be super expensive. Turns out, it doesn’t have to be. I got all my products through Yes Style and there this normally retails for €12.55 but they are always having a sale on there and so this retails for €5.00. That is a good price for a blush, especially one as great as this. I wasn’t sure about this and how it would show up, but turns out this is a surprisingly good product.

What does the Etude House blush have to offer?

So I was first introduced to this product by Arna Arlayne, a youtuber who used to do lots of recommendations for pale skin. This blusher is recommended for fair complexions while at the same time being a soft and creamy formula for a natural look. What this blush of course has going for it is the cutesy packaging. The plastic compact is a bit cheapy, but it comes with the cutest little puff. I don’t use that for the application but it certainly adds to the sales factor.

What is the shade like?

But a blush isn’t just about the packaging though: it’s about the product itself. This blush comes in 12 shades, all of which look nearly identical (save for the purple toned ones which still intrigue me) so picking a shade was difficult for me. Without Arna’s recommendations and swatches I wouldn’t have known which ones to get. She described this shade as a great nude blush shade that would be great for fair skin. So I went with that. And I won’t lie: yes the shade name did help with chosen this particular one.

What does this blush swatch like?

When I first swatched this shade I wasn’t too impressed. This blush formula is very finely milled and seems to barely show up on the skin when swatched with a finger. But it is also my experience that blushes can swatch badly and still show up lovely when using a brush and putting it onto your cheeks. But that is what this blush does: it is light but once a brush touches this formula and it goes onto the cheek magic happens. It smooths onto the skin it seamlessly, adds just enough color, is easy to build up and then even manages to reduce the texture of the skin. It’s like you’ve got an instantly airbrushed cheek.

What does this blush apply like to the skin?

So this blush is difficult to show in a picture, so I recommend you watch the video I did on the full face of Asian makeup because then you can see it going on. I was really impressed by this. The shade is spot on in terms of a nude colored blush shade that I love. Because this is not too peachy, not too pink and not to plum: it is right smack in the middle. It suits my skin tone very well and it shows up enough to make a difference but not so much that it overpowers a look. This is a shade that goes with any makeup you wear and never looks too much.

My final thoughts

This blush blew me away for sure. The Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher is one that is just perfect for me. It just ticks all the boxes. It has an excellent formula, wears well, has a great shade and is the best for fair skin. And that packaging? The packaging is of course divine and super cute which is an added bonus.

Would I recommend the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher?

For sure yes, but only if you have fair to light skin. I don’t think the shade range is good enough for a deeper complexion than that. Personally, I would love to own one of the purple ones for sure, but many of the other shades are either too pink or peachy for my liking. So I’ll just stick to the first one for now and just love this one.

What is the last time you were pleasantly surprised by a makeup product?
