Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream review

Today we are reviewing another product from the Dr. Jart line. I already reviewed the Ceramidin Liquid Toner and today we are zooming in on the cream from the same line. The liquid toner comes in a 100 ml bottle that is still not done. It’s one of those products that just doesn’t seem to run out. This one however, the cream, that was gone in a jiffy. However, it made for a lovely moisturizer and I thought I would give you my full review today after having just used up the full tube.

Skincare review: Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream

Dr. Jart skincare isn’t cheap but it also isn’t super expensive. This cream retails for around the €35 mark and I think that can be a fair price point for a moisturizer. However, with how quickly I used this up, I am not sure it would be worth it in the long run. I think I used this consistently (once a day as part of my nighttime skincare routine) for about six weeks before it was gone. And that while this product comes with 50 ml which normally lasts me a good 2 – 3 months. This was gone in half the time and that it does become a bit expensive.

What does this moisturizer have to offer?

The Dr. Jart Ceramidin cream promises to be this super hydrating, ultra-moisturizing product. That’s why I bought it. I have dry/ dehydrated skin that is quite sensitive so my skin can use all the moisture it needs. It boasts containing ceramides (whatever those may be but I have heard it being flounced around like the new skincare buzzword that it is) and should be great for all skin types. It’s main aim is to prevent water and moisture loss. You can imagine that I felt this cream sounded like it was right up my street, because I love me some hydration.

What are the ingredients like?

When it comes to skincare, it is all about that ingredient list and to be quite honest, to my untrained eye I can’t find much here that would be a complete no go for me, but I also am not finding lots that makes me go: oooh so that’s why it works. The ingredient list is long and it contains many ingredients that I have never heard of. Now that doesn’t mean this is a bad product as formulations nowadays can be quite good, but still. I am a bit worried about what I am paying for when I see plain vegetable oil and shea butter at the top of the ingredient list. So how much you are actually getting of the ingredients that this product is named for, I just can’t tell.

What does this product swatch like?

What I can tell you is this: the cream is rich in texture, so much so that a swatch doesn’t run anywhere but simply just sits there. It is difficult to only use a little bit of the product as the product is so thick that when you squeeze out just a little bit you always end up with a bit too much. Because of the thicker texture this is very pleasant to spread across the skin and it does feel very rich and moisturizing too. Unlike the toner, this doesn’t smell like aftershave and so I liked it a lot more than I did that. That said however, because of that rich, thick texture I feel I ran through this product so quickly. So yes, this is lovely but for how expensive it is and how much you use every time you do, I feel it is not worth it in the end.

My final thoughts

The Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream is a lovely moisturizer, I cannot fault it for that, but I do have my doubts whether this is worth the price point. While it worked on my skin, I feel I have tried more affordable moisturizers (looking at you La Roche Posay Hydraphase) that I go through less quickly and that give me similar results. So I know this is not worth it to me in the long run. For a moisturizer that lasts me 6 weeks this is just too expensive as I would have to be repurchasing it constantly. This may be a good one to keep as a backup for those days where my skin needs that extra moisture boost, but this is not a product to be using on the daily.

Would I recommed the Dr. Jart Ceramidin cream?

I am not going to say this is not worth it. I really do think this is a good quality product, but it’s just too expensive for it to really go into my daily skincare routine. If you feel you can shell out the dough continuously than this may be something you want to try, but for me it’s just not one I can afford long term. Besides, there are so many skincare products to try out there. So while I loved this and I would like to repurchase it at some point, this is not going in the holy grain status category for sure.
