The Body Shop CBD moisturizer review

Are you excited for another skincare review? I most certainly am, because today’s review features one of the skincare brands that got me started using skincare more regularly. I used to mention a lot in the past how The Body Shop was the place where I had my start in skincare. I had tried other things, but everything I tried made my skin react. I then discovered their Aloe Vera line and finally found products I could use consistently that worked well on my dry/ dehydrated and sensitive skin. The product I had just never found from the brand? A good moisturizer. Everything I tried was nice and okay but nothing that truly gave my skin what it needed. Enter the newish CBD line which is formulated specifically for dehydrated skin. I think I may have found a new holy grail!

Skincare review: The Body Shop CBD Replenishing Moisture Cream

The CBD line isn’t super new. I think this launched last year? I am a bit out of the loop with The Body Shop. The brand isn’t talked about much anymore and I used to live around the corner from a store so I knew exactly what the brand had out. I bought this when I needed to restock on some things from their website and was intrigued by some of the claims. At €23 tis isn’t a cheap moisturizer but it also isn’t the most expensive one I have ever tried. Let’s have a closer look.

What does this moisturizer have to offer?

According to The Body Shop this is a rich cream that sinks in quickly. It’s main aim is to repair the moisture barrier of your skin and contains CBD, hemp oil and squalane to do so. The brand claims this should help with ‘stressed out skin’. I didn’t know your skin could be stressed out, but they classify ‘stressed skin’ as skin that is dehydrated, dry, dull and just overall not the best looking. It consists of 97% natural ingredients and can be used on all skin types.

What does this cream do?

If we want to determine how works, it may be good to have a look at the ingredients. Here is the ingredient list:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Propanediol, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Glycerin, Arachidyl Alcohol, Squalane, Behenyl Alcohol, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Octyldodecanol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Arachidyl Glucoside, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Xanthan Gum, Parfum/Fragrance, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Cannabidiol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Extract, Geraniol, Citric Acid, Limonene, Citronellol, Linalool, Sodium Hydroxide.

Before I go into the ingredients list it may be good to know that I would not categorize my knowledge of skincare to be of an expert level. I have just used lots of skincare, from lots of brands and at different price points to see what works for me. Having sensitive skin means my skin can be fickle and trying skincare as always been a huge challenge but I have never been able to determine what my skin reacts to exactly. So please bare in mind this review doesn’t come for the perspective of a dermatologist, chemist or cosmotologist, but the consumer point of view.

The ingredient list starts with water which is quite common. High on the list are also shea butter, glycerin and squalane. The promised cannabis oil is also in the first half of the list as are olive oil. The CBD the product is named after is in the second half of the list though (Cannabidiol), so this is not a main ingredient. In fact, fragrance is higher on the list. So depending on what sensitivities you have you may want to skip this one.

How did I experience using this product?

What matters to me most though isn’t just the ingredient list, but what it does for my skin. This is the best moisturizer from The Body Shop I have tried. I used it in my evening skincare routine and I felt it worked well over face oils and still worked well enough for truly moisturizing my skin. For winter it perhaps could be even richer for my dry skin, but this is a good, all round moisturizer that I think can work for me in the day time too in the dryer, colder seasons. By now my tub is pretty much empty, but I know I want to go back and repurchase this.

My final thoughts

The Body Shop’s CBD moisturizer is one of my recent skincare favorites. It sinks in quickly but makes my skin feel great too. It may be too rich for most people but my dry skin just laps this up and I am a bit sad I have nearly used this up. I have finally found a moisturizer from The Body Shop that I love and I am very happy about that fact. This is rich enough for my dry/ dehydrated skin, I didn’t have any reactions and it makes my skin feel and look great. Even though there is quite a bit of fragrance in this product, I don’t experience this as overly scented which is an added bonus.

Would I recommend The Body Shop CBD moisturizer?

I think people with dry skin may like this. I would say that this is better if you lean more dehydrated rather than true dry skin. Also, depending on what you are sensitive too, this may not be for you as there is quite a bit of fragrance here. I am just happy that there are enough ‘good ingredients’ for me in the top of the ingredient list to make this work for me and I know this is one I want to go back to.
