We all know I love a good men’s fragrance as a more unisex option. Now, not all of it works, but if you want something different then trying a men’s perfume is a great way to spice things up.
And with Dior’s Sauvage Elixir you’d do exactly that because this is a lovely spicy but sweet scent that I love in the winter time.
This fragrance is of course advertised with an actor as its ambassador. I bought this for the scent and before there were a lot of controversies. You make the decision that sits best with you.
Fragrance review: Dior Sauvage Elixir perfume
Now this is not a cheap fragrance. It’s close to €150 for a 60 ml bottle. It may be good to know that this is one of many flankers of the original Sauvage fragrance line. I had testers for all of them and ended up choosing this in the end after hearing this had some good smelling unisex fragrances.
What are the fragrance notes like?
So the best way to describe this fragrance is as a warm spicy fragrance. And that is a type of fragrance I struggle finding in the women’s fragrance section.
What are the scent notes like?
- Top notes are cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, grapefruit
- Middle note is lavender
- Base notes are licorice, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, vetiver
I feel that spicy vibe is there straight away. But the grapefruite adds a fresh note that keeps this from smelling too heavy. The lavender adds a soft note that makes this more well-rounded and I love the blend in the base notes that just last all day.
Should you buy Dior Sauvage Elixir?
This is a pricey fragrance but I found it well worth it. It is exactly that sweet spicy scent I was looking for.
As with any men’s fragrance I find the first spritz of this to smell too strongly of a men’s cologne, but once this has had 30 minutes or so I love it.
It also lasts for hours. When I put this on in the morning, I can still get a whiff of it the next day. I don’t wear it too often though as I don’t want this to no longer smell special to me. But I could definitely wear this every single day.
Again, as I have said several times if you are over the overly sweet female oriented fragrances and you wan tto try something new, check out the men’s lines. Because at the end of the day, you can find some great things if you can get past the marketing.
