Summer sale haul (try on)

Summer sale haul (try on)

I finally got lucky! Remember how in my previous haul, I mentioned not being able to find anything? Well the sales were very very kind to me (and I, or my bank account, to them) and found lots of great stuff often at great prices too. So I decided to film a try on haul for you of all the bits I got. I hope you enjoy!

Summer sale haul

Summer sale haul

As a bit of a treat-yourself-moment, I decided to get some fashion bits in the summer sale to celebrate my own birthday. Summer sales are my favorite as I feel you get the best deals. So I usually go ham. And I went ham this year too. Shoes were my main vice and I also snuck in some new collection items, because that how things go. Let’s stop the rambling and get on with this haul, shall we?

Winter, spring & sale fashion haul

Winter, spring & sale fashion haul

I have another haul for you! It is the first haul of 2017 and quite possibly one of the last ones. As I mentioned before, 2017 will be the year I am looking to buy a house so that means more saving and less spending. I went on one last blow out shopping session in Amsterdam and went shopping with my mom. In addition, I decided to throw in some random Black Friday deals as well as some other sale and online bits. Hope you enjoy!

An all black H&M sale shoplog

An all black H&M sale shoplog

But don’t you love color? I do, but when I checked out the H&M sale, the only items that caught my eye were all black. It sometimes just happens like that. I got a few items I had been eyeballing which had been reduced and then I found a few other items I really like. In total I paid around 50 euros for all 6 items, which really isn’t bad. Here’s what I got.

Fuzzy black cardigan (€15)

Let’s start with an item that I had been eying up for a while. However at 35 euros I thought it was a bit much. I was hoping it would go on sale and it did! So now I have myself a black fluffy cardigan which was just the item my wardrobe needed.

Black structured body con dress (€10)

This dress was one I hadn’t seen before. It is made of a very sturdy material, which means it sucks you in in all the right places. And I like it when bodycon dresses do that. This definitely hugs every curve in the right way. Love it!

Floral print skater skirt (€7)

I saw this skirt when it first came into stores, but passed up on it as the size I usually wear was a bit tight and it came up super short. I simply sized up and this does work perfectly. Since I bought a larger size it not only fits better around my waist, but it’s also longer which will mean you can wear this without adding on a pair of shorts.

Thick lace skater dress (€10)

This skater dress is made of a very thick neoprene/ scuba like material and has a lace insert along the middle section as well as a lace back. I tried this on just one or two weeks ago and despite liking it very much I decided against buying it at the time. Mainly because I hoped for this too that it would go on sale and I would get it at a cheaper price. And it did!

Long flowy cardigan (€7)

Waterfall cardigans are not really my thing. They usually add bulk around the chest area, which is a place where I don’t need to get any more bulk. But this one is very long and the waterfall effect starts at just the right part of my body to make it work. It’s also not too thick, which is nice, because I didn’t have a thin long sleeved cardigan in my wardrobe yet.

Stretchy faux leather bodycon dress (€7)

Last but not least, the best deal I got. This dress was originally €24.95 and I paid 7 euros. Again an item that I had already spotted and tried on before. But again, knowing this might go on sale, I decided against it and when I saw it being reduced so much I knew I had to take it home. No clue when or where I will be wearing this any time soon as it’s quite thick and more winter like, but hey, I’m sure I’ll find a use for it.

What sale items did you pick up?

Current H&M picks (incl. sale items)

Current H&M picks (incl. sale items)

Winter sale is on and that means that some of the best deals are in town again. I ordered a few things from H&M’s website, also ended up going to the store itself and I ordered a few bits and bobs over the past few months and I thought: why not share it all. Without any further ado, I present to you: my current H&M picks.

Burgundy blouse 19.95

Yellow silk blouse 59.95

It’s blouses time! I’ve decided that my closet needs 2 things: printed and colored blouses as every blouse I own falls into the nude/ cream or denim category. I simply am in need of a few more current colors and I thought these would do just that. Both blouses are still on its way, so now I just have to hope that they fit right.

Wool coatigan 39.95

Zip up hoodie with teddy fur lining 17

I saw ‘coatigans’ (fusion of a coat and a cardigan) on Asos all fall season and I thought they looked cool. But paying almost 100 euros for a coat that doesn’t close up isn’t too smart in Dutch weather. When I saw this one, I instantly loved it. It’s got a good deal of wool in it and I can just imagine myself snuggling up on the couch in the dead of winter, or layer it under my winter coat on chilly mornings filled with train delays. The latter is the reason why I also ordered the hoodie in the sale. Plus it’s got this Nordic theme going on and it’s lined with soft, fuzzy, teddy material. You can’t get any warmer than that.

Striped blouse 20

Plaid sleeveless button up shirt

Prints! Patterns! That’s what I want. These monochromatic prints will be easy to combine with tons of things: under sweaters or dresses, on top of jeans, or tucked into a skirt. Both items were on sale and half price off.

Red skirt 24.95

Chenille fuzzy cardigan 39.95

When I saw the H&M Christmas catalogue there wasn’t too much that caught my eye. This red skirt did and it sold out quickly online. A few weeks ago I went shopping with my mom and there were plenty of skirts hanging on the racks in my town. It’s so flattering on and I’ve got a thing for red at the moment. I already own a sweater version of this cardigan and it’s hands down one of my favorite sweaters of the season. So when I saw they did it in a cardigan I just had to have it. Fuzziness galore! (and no, no sweet little rabbits suffered for it either).

Men’s knit sweater 19.95

Paisley print men’s sweater 29.95

Ssshht! Let me tell you a secret: are you looking for comfy sweaters with fun prints and of a good quality which aren’t too expensive? Check out H&M’s men’s section. For real. Their sweaters are amazing and surprisingly fit me very nicely. I bought both of these in a size small and they look great!

Black beret (I AM) 9.95

Polka dot sheer blouse 7

Black striped top 5

Red skater skirt 5

Black sequin shorts (VILA) 19.95

Jewel print dress 15

So this picture from my Instagram (@indiequeen84) features not only H&M items, but also two things I picked up at the stores at my railway station. The black beret is 100% wool and goes very nicely with my camel colored winter coat and black leather gloves. It’s classier than a beanie in any case. The shorts I just had to pick up. They are sporty, yet glam and not too shiny. The H&M items I bought in the two H&Ms we have here. The dress is from the more work attire related line and fits like a glove. I feel like a true Joanie in Mad Men in it.

Have you picked up any sale items yet?

Shoplog: Zara, Bershka, MAC & Urban Decay

Shoplog: Zara, Bershka, MAC & Urban Decay

Yesterday I took another trip to The Hague to see my allergy doctor. This time not only to get my shot, but also to find out whether I have an intolerance for gluten. Luckily I don’t and these monthly trips usually entail hitting up some stores that I cannot get to on a regular basis as they are not in my town. I had already spotted some neat blouses on the ZARA website in their spring collection so I had my mind set on going there and just couldn’t help picking up a few other trinkets on my way there. Scroll down to see my purchases.

Tribal/ Aztec print sweater dress (Bershka)

My first stop actually wasn’t ZARA but Bershka, ZARA’s little sister and I bought a few things there. They still had a sale going on, so I picked up this sweater dress with this very neat Aztec/ Tribal inspired print for 10 euros. With sweater dresses it’s always a bit hit or miss for me. I tried on a different one in the store which looked hideous on me but the same on the hanger as this one. When I tried this one on it fit perfectly. The mannequin makes it look a bit weird at the bottom but you get the general idea. Here’s a close up of the print:

This type of print is going to be pretty hot this year. It already was for autumn, but for spring and summer I’ve been spotting it too. I think the green & purple give this dress just that little extra that makes it perfect for winter, but also spring as the colors can go with that season too.

Mustard yellow/ blue polka dot skater dress (Bershka)

Another dress I found was this mustard colored dress with dark blue velvety polka dots. I wanted to get a dress in this particular cut as it is very flattering when you’ve got a narrow waistline but are bigger at the top and bottom. They also had a black one with stars, but since I already own a few black dress I decided to go with some color instead. This dress was only €6 on sale.

Mustard colored narrow belt with bow detail (Bershka)

The last sale item I found was this mustard colored belt. At only €2.99 and with that incredibly cute bow I couldn’t pass up on it! I will be wearing this as a narrow waist belt.

Sea foam colored button down shirt with balloon hemline (Bershka)

Of course all of the spring collections are in stores by now too and I have to say that all those pastels aren’t really my thing. However, this dark sea foam colored shirt hits everything right on the dot. It is not too fitty as it is meant to be quite baggy looking and the color is spot on. It makes for a nice contrast with my blonde hair and I think it will go nicely with the petrol colored pants I bought last month. This button down shirt cost €15.99.

Mint green sheer polka dot button down (ZARA)

Finally my stuff from ZARA which actually isn’t too much. I had already spotted this very nice minty green color on their webshop last week and so when I went to the store that was what I was looking for. I said before that I don’t like pastels but this is the ONLY pastel color I can pull off without it making me look dead. I had seen several items on their website and tried all of them on. When I put on this shirt it was perfect straight away. Yes, it’s sheer, but it will be perfect over the bustier I bought on sale at H&M for €4. And sheer is another trend that is definitely going to be around this spring. Price: €25.

Cream colored sheer dress shirt with buttons & pussy bow (ZARA)

Another sheer shirt, which again looked amazing on. I love the fact that it has a pussybow AND polkadots. Two of my favorite things put together. Again I intend on wearing this over a bustier or a nude colored tank and possible with highwaisted pants or skirt. This shirt also cost €25. The polka dots up close: cuteness!

MAC Fresh Honey blusher (Naturally collection), Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette

I also bought a few make up items. I’ve been wanting to get a MAC mineralized blush for some time now, but I actually didn’t like the ones they stock in their regular collection as they are quite shimmery. When I heard the mineralized blushes in the limited edition Naturally collection released this Saturday are void of shimmer and super pigmented I had to pick one up. I went with Fresh Honey: a warm peach colored blush that gives just the right amount of glow without making me look like Christmas decoration.

And then quite possibly the most coveted item in this entire haul post: the Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette. It’s here already. I really thought we’d have to wait a year until it would be released in The Netherlands, but then the palette was spotted in Rotterdam last week and now I found it at Sephora in The Hague. I am so excited!  I will show you the palette in a separate post including swatches. It is too gorgeous not to devote a separate post on it.

So there we go! I had told myself to not buy anything until my London trip, but these are things I would have picked up there anywayz. It will just save me some weight in my suitcase. I can at least take the skater dress, mint colored shirt and the UD Naked 2 palette from my wish list.

Which spring fashion trends are you looking forward to adding to your wardrobe?
