Garnier waterproof eye make up remover

Garnier waterproof eye make up remover

Talking about long overdue reviews! I am almost through my second bottle of the Garnier waterproof eye make up remover and not once have I mentioned it on here. Shame on me! Because this is a great little product that is quite affordable, does a really good job at removing make up, yet is gentle and non-irritating on my skin at the same time. Time to tell you all about it.

Review: Bobbi Brown Gel Liner

Review: Bobbi Brown Gel Liner

In one of my recent haul posts, you read that I bought a Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. I was looking for a forest green gel liner and since MAC doesn’t carry one in their permanent line I decided to check out Bobbi Brown. And oh my god, it’s amazing! Not only is it the exact color I was looking for, it’s also long-wearing and goes on like a charm.

This is what you get: 3 grams of product in nice sleek packaging

The product

Here’s what Bobbi Brown says about the product:

This award-winning liner gives you the look of liquid liner with the ease & feel of a gel formula. Long-wearing, water-resistant colour glides on and let’s you get it just right before it dries – then stays without a smear or crease.

Not one word is a lie: it looks like liquid liner and slides on effortlessly. Pigmentation is great and it is definitely long-wearing. After taking these pictures I did the dishes and the swatch on my hand wouldn’t come off until I started scrubbing my skin with my dish washing brush. Impressive!

I’ve also used the gel liner several times and it’s the perfect dark green color. It’s dark enough for it to be noticeable but not as harsh as black. It also has a very pretty shimmer to it. When the liner catches the light it shows up very, much more so then when your use a matte liner. If you have brown eyes like me, then I can definitely recommend you trying out a similar color.

I had difficulty capturing the color in a picture. It showed up darker all the time. This is the best I could do:

The verdict: this is very good gel liner. I would definitely recommend this. It is rather expensive though. At 21 euros this is an expensive liner. If you are looking for a dark green liner, but would like to spend a fraction, check out Essence at your local drug store. They carry a very decent dark green liner as well.

Q: Do you own any Bobbi Brown products?

Shopping Haul #2: Sephora, Lush, Bobbi Brown, Essence, Catrice, etc.

Shopping Haul #2: Sephora, Lush, Bobbi Brown, Essence, Catrice, etc.

Like I said yesterday, I also bought some beauty related items on my shopping spree. I was looking for a few things in particular, but of course you always come across more that you also want to try. Here are the things I bought:

Atrix Aloe Vera hand cream

One of the very few things posted here that I actually needed. My favorite hand cream (carried by my pharmacy) isn’t there anymore, as the pharmacy changed companies. So, I had to find a new one. I tried a few and love love love this one. It’s think and smell delicious. I love lathering this on my hands before I go to sleep.

Sephora Waterproof Eye Make Up remover, Lush Sweet Pie Shower Jelly, Lush Almond & Coconut Smoothie shower cream

I really needed the make up remover as I nearly ran out of mine. I’ve tried several different ones in the past few months but I really love the Sephora one and with a 20% discount this wasn’t even too expensive. I also ran out of my Swoosh shower jelly from Lush. So I initially went in there to rebuy it. However, they were out of stock, so I went with a different smell instead. Sweetie Pie smells like cherries and coconut, is purple and has blue sparkles. They promised me the sparkles would wash off… The shower cream is new to me so I still have to try it, but it smelled and felt delicious!

Lush sugar scrub with ginger

I love Lush’ sugar scrubs. I already tried the green one, so now it’s time for the white one. I like the smell of this a whole lot more so that’s a good start!

Catrice I’m a Star, Catrice I Wear My Sunglasses at Night

Nail polish! Of course! I cannot go shopping without buying some nail polish it seems. The first one is a nice earthy toned gold color. The second one is a dark purple with different colored sparkles. I generally like Catrice polishes so I’m sure I’ll love these too.

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Shimmer Ink Ivy

Another thing I had set out to buy was a dark green eyeliner. I hate liquid liners and I had read online MAC had a limited edition in their Mac Me Over collection. Of course they had run out of that one as the collection has been out for some time, but then I walked past the Bobbi Brown counter and found this magnificent green color. It is amazing: it’s exactly the color I want it to be and I’ve heard great things about Bobby Brown gel eyeliners so let’s see how much I like it. I might do a review on this some time soon.

Catrice Gel Eyeliner in In Love with a Robot, Essence Gel Eyeliners in: Barefoot Through the Moss, Berlin Rocks, I Love NYC.

Two stores later I found that Essence has included a great dark green color in their collection. And they had a moss green colored liner in their limited edition line called NATvent Urista. Another color liner I wanted to try was purple and since Essence is so budget proof I decided to take that one with me as well. When I then found a great silver liner by Catrice I couldn’t pass up on that.

As you can see I went on a bit of a gel liner kick. I’m curious to see how well the cheap ones work and I can’t wait to try the Lush shower cream. Is there anything here you’d be curious to try?

Review: Maybelline Colossal Mascara

Review: Maybelline Colossal Mascara

Last week I told I’d review a few drug store mascaras. Here’s the first one: Maybelline Colossal mascara in waterproof black.

Here’s what Maybelline says about this mascara on their website:

COLOSSAL LASHES IN JUST ONE COAT!
CREATES 9X THE VOLUME, instantly
COLLAGEN FORMULA  + MEGA BRUSH plumps lashes

Let me just start off by saying that this mascara didn’t do ANYTHING for me. My lashes actually looked shorter and the brush may be mega but it’s hell to try and work with it. I actually felt like it had a hard time coating all of my lashes. The brush felt coarse and at times it felt like it would rip out an eyelash. The formula felt really dry and went on very flaky, giving the not so charming ‘spider legs’ look to my lashes. On top of that, it didn’t hold for a day. After 12 hours I more or less looked like I was going to audition for a part in The Raccoons, rather than my natural self. That’s how bad it smudged and stained around my eyes. I actually woke up this morning looking like a ghost. I had huge bags under my eyes, yet I didn’t feel tired at all. No, even AFTER removing the mascara last night it still stained overnight. Can you say meh?

With using this mascara I could have featured on this show, no sweat!

My verdict on this one? STAY the hell away from it! It gives you the so not charming spider lashes and stains & smudges despite it being a waterproof mascara.

It may be the no. 1 selling drug store mascara but it’s hideous. Let’s just hope that the other Maybelline mascara I got, The Define-A-Lash Volume mascara is more successful. This is the one I will be using next.
