Best MAC eyeshadows

A few weeks ago, I already wrote about MAC eyeshadows which I think are underrated. Underrated meaning, I think they deserve to get more credit. Apart from underrated ones, I also have a few MAC eyeshadows that are my go to colors whenever I am stumped for an eye look. These colors are easy to combine with any color and work no matter what you do with them. Some of these are so good that all you need for a complete look is that one single color. I hereby present to you: my favorite MAC eyeshadows.

The reasons why these are my favorite MAC eyeshadows are multifold: they are unique colors that are difficult to find anywhere else, the formulation is great and easy to work with. In addition, most of them are versatile and can be used all over the lid, in the crease or the outer v, depending on what time of look you want to go for. If you are looking to buy any MAC eyeshadows I can wholeheartedly recommend buying these ones.

1. Mulch: red brown with bronze pearl (Velvet finish)
2. Satin Taupe: taupe with silver shimmer (Frost finish)
3. Expensive pink: pink with duochrome (Veluxe Pearl)
4. Shale: mauve plum with shimmer (Satin finish)
5. Patina: taupe brown with golden pearl (Frost finish)
6. Cranberry: red plum with pink shimmer (Frost finish)

As you can tell from these descriptions my favorite finishes all imply some sort of smoothness: these colors all glide on without any problems. The different between all these finishes you will hopefully see in the swatches below. All the colors are also quite uniform: reds, browns and taupes with some plum and pink mixed in. And this is why these colors work so well. Here’s what I like to use them for:

1. Mulch: darkening the crease and outer V, but a brown smokey eye is also not unthinkable.
2. Satin taupe: all over the lid and on the lower lash line
3. Expensive pink: all over the lid or in the crease. Especially over Rubenesque paint pot this shadow shines.
4. Shale: all over the lid, lower lash line, crease and outer V
5. Patina: all over the lid and in the crease
6. Cranberry: all over the lid

This picture clearly shows how these different finishes work out. The frost finish is shiniest, the velvet one is the most matte here, but without being matte. Shale is a satin and also fairly mate and as you can tell also the sheerest finish of the bunch. Yet, this color is still very buildable which is why if you’re going for a neutral eye you can still use this in the crease and outer V. You can also see that especially Satin taupe, Expensive pink and Patina look slightly different out of the pan. These colors seem to change depending on how the lights hit them and again that makes them versatile.
