Maybelline Color Tattoo

When it comes to beauty product favorites, the Maybelline Color Tattoos are some of my favorites. Since they were released I have gathered 9 different shades, the last of which I purchased on my trip to the US & Canada this summer. So it is about time that I write about these lovely products.

Over the course of time I gathered 9 different shades that range from neutral shades and deeper shades to mattes and shimmer. Some of these shades I wear on their own, with just a little bit of liner and mascara they make for a great, quick eye look for busy mornings. Some of these shadows I use solely as a base underneath eye shadows to enhance or deepen an eye look.

I own some of the brighter shades as well as a fun duochrome shade. My favorites are the pink and bronze shades as they are the most versatile. The matte shades have a tougher texture to work with and they also seem to dry out more quickly. Drying out is a problem with these, but I find that when you use your fingers to warm up the product, that it’s fairly easy to make them last a little bit longer. Let’s have a closer look at the different colors.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 65 Pink Gold

Let’s start with one of my favorite shades. Pink Gold, called Inked in Pink in the US, is a pretty shimmery light pink shade that is pretty all over the lid. I mostly take this with me on shorter or longer trips to create a quick eye look within minutes. I do use this over another base as without one, this creases too quickly on me.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 85 Light in Purple

This is one of the most special colors I own. I first found it in the UK drugstore, but shortly after it popped up in the Dutch ones as well. This blue with a purple hue is another one shade shadow look. Basically because there is no other shade that could match this.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 25 Everlasting Navy

One of my favorite colors to use underneath other eye shadows is this navy blue. Since I only do navy blue eye looks in fall and winter, this doesn’t get used year round. But whenever I am looking to do a blue eye look, I pull this out.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 35 On and On Bronze

On and On Bronze, or Bad to the Bronze, is one of the best selling products from this line. And when you see it, you know why. It is a shimmery bronze shade that has the perfect balance of brown and gold. Again this is one of my go to shades and like Pink Gold, it is an eye shadow that I always take with me when I’m traveling.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 10 Fierce & Tangy

This is the first of the shades that I purchased in the US. I don’t think this shade has been released anywhere else. It is a matte orange shade that is great with fall looks. This is unfortunately drying out by now and so I don’t know how long it will last.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 20 Painted Purple

This matte purple shade is one of my least used shades. I really hadn’t expected that, as it is a super fun  bright shade. But that is exactly why I hardly wear it. I occasionally wear it underneath purple looks, but I find it a bit too bright for that. It also applies a little patchy, which is why this shade never made it to the top of my list.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 70 Metallic Pomegranate

The final shade I tracked down in the UK is this cranberry shade. I use this mostly underneath cranberry colored eyeshadow to intensify and make them more vibrant. It is definitely one of the most out there shades in the bunch, but again during fall and winter it is an essential in my beauty stash.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 40 Permanent Taupe

The matte shade I use the most is Permanent Taupe, also known as Tough as Taupe. This is a great base shade to darken up eye looks or intensify shades. This isn’t something I would wear as is, but this is probably the best base shade in the selection.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr 130 Black Orchid

This final shade is my most recent addition. Black Orchid was listed as a limited edition shade in the US drugstore. It got melted in my suitcase, hence the bubbles in the product. Since there are no testers in US drugstores, I didn’t know what this looked like exactly. What looked like a shimmery taupe shade, this is in fact a pretty mauve that will look great with cool toned shadows as well as on its own.

On the swatches the patchiness of the purple can be seen clearly. All the other shades are opaque and go on smoothly. The colors are bright and well pigmented. The lightest shade I own is the newest addition: Black Orchid which is less shimmery and more satin than a true shimmer. All the other shimmers are exactly that.

All in all, the Maybelline Color Tattoos are a great product that will complete any make up collection, big or small. They are versatile and can make for some quick and easy make up look for every day or on the go.
