Revlon Laidback Lilac review

Revlon Laidback Lilac review

December means I am starting to select my 2025 favorites because between Christmas and New Year I share with you my end of year favorites. This means going over the makeup I tried, what I loved and telling you all about those bits. One lipstick I fell in love with hard when I bought it last spring was Laidback Lilac. I hadn’t reviewed it yet, so here it finally is: my full review for Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Laidback Lilac.

Last year I really got into Revlon lipstick. They were a bit of a rediscovery for me. I had a bunch of them years ago, but they expired on me or the formulas weren’t my favorite. But I spotted them in Boots when I was in London and instantly knew I had to try them again. So I did and when I said how much I loved these lipsticks, my followers came through. They recommended I try Laidback Lilac. I found it, bought it and tried it. It is now one of my favorite nudes in my collection.

Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick 811 Laidback Lilac

One thing I think Revlon is good at is doing lipstick. Sadly the brand isn’t sold where I live, so I can find them online or in the UK. But displays are often picked over, selection can be limited and the prices here are quite a bit higher than in the US. A Revlon lipstick retails from anywhere between €10 to €15. I bought a bunch last year during the sale season and this particular shade I cannot find on any website that has Revlon available to me.

What does this lipstick have to offer?

Does any lipstick get any more classic than a Revlon lipstick? Revlon has done lipsticks since the 50s (probably even before that) and they still make some of those classic shades. Laidback Lilac I would describe as a muted brown toned mauve. It looks a bit grey in the tube but on the lips you can see it pulls a bit more rosy. It is beautiful on, goes with any look and the creamy formula means this doesn’t dry out my lips.

Swatched on the back of my hand, this lipstick looks like quite a purply pink. It definitely has a cool leaning undertone and has a hint of blue running through. It’s a very pretty lipstick, but based on the tube not something I would likely buy for myself if it hadn’t been recommended to me. It simply looks a bit too rosy for me. But ones on the lips this is very much that my lips but better type of shade. Lasting time is decent, but this is a creamy lipstick so after 2 – 3 hours you will have to reapply.

So I didn’t do the best job applying this for the picture, but you get the idea: this is very close to my natural lip color. So much so that I can get away with applying it straight from the tube no mirror and you can’t really tell how messy it is unless you get this close up. It is simply perfection. Especially full face you can see how this muted pink tone just brings the entire look together. This goes well with my undertone, any blush I wear and I can wear this with more colorful as well as more neutral eye looks.

Should you buy Revlon Laidback Lilac?

I am very happy to own this Revlon lipstick in Laidback Lilac. It was an instant hit, even though I had not expected it. To me, shades like this remind me a bit of my grandma (not in a good way and hers may have been a frost), but it definitely suits my complexion. In some lights the grey tones come through a bit more, but I’d say this definitely has a touch of warmth to it, but it just a great blend. If you were looking for a good nude lipstick that is more pinky/ purple give this a whirl.

Pros:

  • Drugstore price point
  • Nude for fair skin with a neutral undertone
  • Creamy formula

Cons:

  • Can be hard to find if you don’t have access to Revlon
  • Not cool toned enough if you have a very strong cool undertone
  • Not the most longlasting formula
