It’s that time of year again: it’s August which means universities are gearing up for the new academic year. Not just universities are gearing up again, I am again too, as a student that is. Work doesn’t start until August 22nd, but on August 1st I had to register for classes again. Curious to see what I’m planning on tackling this year? Then continue reading!

I don’t have to take that many courses this year. I tried to do as much as I could last year so I wouldn’t have to do as much this year, making it easier to fit into my overfull schedule. I still have a few snippets left to do from last year though: I have to attend one more seminar and write a paper about one of the seminars I attended and I have to write my term paper. I also have to take one more course on research skills, but in total that’s only 11 ECTS and I can finish the two papers before Christmas. I will take the course in January.
As for actual content courses I plan on doing 5 this year. One of which will be for my sheer enjoyment, the other 4 will all be on communication as that’s the knowledge I want to stock up on. I will be starting off the year with organizational communication strategies. It mainly deals with communication in companies. Next will be online marketing, then nonverbal communication and lastly I hope to enroll myself in a course on social media. That last course is very popular and so I will have to get lucky to enroll myself in there. My treat course will be language globalization. This is a topic I already know a lot about, and the professor is really nice and interesting. I couldn’t take that course last year so I will try to do it this time round. If I get the credits that will be nice, if I don’t, it doesn’t really matter.
So that will be it for this year: 5 courses worth 6 ECs each. Then two papers and the research skills course worth another 11 ECs together: that’s 41 ECs in total. Plenty to keep my grant and enough to keep me busy, but not too busy. I am only taking one course per term that I will really have to work for, and that is less than I did during the past year.
Q: What is a topic that you would like to know more about?
