Feeling under the weather

For a few days now I have been feeling under the weather. I already had a cold sore last week which indicated my immune system wasn’t working all that well. However, nothing too major was going on. On Wednesday though I woke up with an itchy feeling in my throat and throughout the day, while teaching, I started to lose my voice. I don’t have a sore throat, I don’t have a cold, so when I woke up yesterday morning still sounding like a female Tom Waits I decided to call my doctor.

Apparently I have infected vocal chords. While I’m writing this, I have spend most of the day on the couch, barely speaking and I’ve only started to feel worse. So by now I don’t even know what it is anymore. My doctor did mention that I would probably start to feel very tired, which is my main problem right now, apart from my voice, which after a day of rest hasn’t gotten any better.

The only thing I can do is rest, drink tea and eat cough drops as that is all that works. The worst part is that, as a teacher, I need my voice to earn my living. So I’m hoping it will be over soon. I am going to work today, but I have cancelled my classes as I don’t feel sick sick. I’m just going in to see how things go. If things don’t work out I will just leave early and probably won’t be able to work at the open day on Saturday.

So that’s a quick update. If there aren’t too many posts on here for the next few days you will know I’m still recovering. I hope everyone else is keeping well and I hope your weekends will be swell!

Oh this sucks, especially since you don’t really feel sick, but needing your voice for work… I hope you feel better soon. One thing that I usually make and have every now and then: honey mixed with some lemon juice and nutmeg. It really helps my throat feel way way better.

Thanks for the tip. Will try that. Voice is still not working properly. Hope that shutting up today and tomorrow will work, so I can teach and go to my job interview on Tuesday.

Feeling any better yet? Do hope so. My health could do with some improvement also. Breathing makes me sound like an eighty year old chain smoker. Definitely not Tom Waits…
    Anyway, get well soon!

Nope. Worse. Having an open day didn’t help though. Trying to say as little as possible for the next day or two. I hope I can teach on Tuesday. And you should get that breathing checked out. You’ve had that since Christmas.
