30 day make up challenge # 8: Red (budget look)

When I think of red in a make up look, I unmistakably think of red lips. I do have red eyeshadow, but I think that I will have to use that in looks that are coming up in the future. So for this one, I’ve decided to keep things simple on the eyes and go in with a va-va-voom red lip. As an added bonus, I made this look using all budget make up items, which I showed you earlier this week. Reviews for those products are still coming up, but I thought I’d use them in a make up look straight away to use them for the first time and see how they all worked. The only things I’ve used that are not budgetproof are my mascara and eyeshadowbase. On to the look!

Completed look

Because I wanted to make sure the red lip stood out as much as possible, I kept the rest of the look very simple. I only use one eyeshadow and a soft pink matte blush for only a hint of color on my cheeks. For a hint of shine on my browbone and inner corners I used a highlighting pencil and I used a pink pencil on my waterline to open up my eyes a bit more. For liner I used a felt tip pen eyeliner which ended up being quite patchy, but I will say more about that in a full review. Since I had some trouble working with that product, I decided to also keep the eyeliner simple and not go for a wing. And since this look is all about the lips, I threw in a close up of that as well. The lipstick I’m wearing is from a recent LE collection so I don’t think you can still find this anywhere, but it’s a great berry-toned red. Red like fresh raspberries!

Including dreadful eyeliner and those black dots is mascara transfer from my lashes.

  2. […] The best red Catrice has ever made and it was limited edition! It is still a great red shade though and one of my favorite in my collection. It is a fairly bright shade, most certainly the brightest one featured here, but I tend to wear this mostly in fall winter. This is a pinky red, which reminds me of fresh raspberries. And thus it makes for a perfect berry shade. This being Catrice, the lasting power is great, and which a very friendly price tag of 4 euros. I am wearing it here. […]

  3. […] Taupe! Gorgeous taupe. If there is one eyeshadow shade I love most it is taupe so I picked up Under Treasure before I picked up any of the other shades. This shade is a true grey/ brown mixture which makes it a great staple for me. It is dark enough to create a more defined look, but is light enough to go onto the eyelid without making it look like you were punched in the face. I am wearing it in this make up look. […]
